Yeah...it's pushed more as a women's holiday. Though that doesn't leave guys with a holiday where their woman gets them chocolates...or whatever.

What is a woman supposed to get a man?? You never here advertisement for tools for christmas.
No, you hear ads for $50+ roses which are going to be thrown away.
Its a shame.

Men aren't as into Valentine's as women, so the ads target gifts for women.

Here's the reason I think the ads target men buying for women, and not the other way around: (and as a guy, I'm sure you'll all be able to identify)
Women will never, ever, ever forget Valentine's Day, nor will they forget to buy their guys something.
Guys need constant reminders; it's true. I can own up to it and admit it. If you don't have commercials in your face for a month in advance telling you to buy your girlfriend/wife something for Valentine's Day, it's possible that the day could arrive with you being COMPLETELY unaware of it.
So, in essence, I think the commercials are perfect in the sense that they save you from having to sleep in the doghouse on Valentine's Day.

It's not an official holiday, but the Super Bowl is kind of a "Man holiday." Instead of chocolates, we get hot wings. ;)

I hope Hallmark isn't reading this.
:)
If anything, men should get the day AFTER the Super Bowl as a holiday.
As recovery day for some, and a grieving day for us all.
