Has to be Jack the Malt Shop guy. He had a truly magnificent paper hat.

Without a doubt Ozzie, a great sense of timing, a comic genius, he cracks me up!

Ricky or Ozzie.

Rick was the reason I watched. This past New Years Eve was the anniversary of his death. I can still remember hearing the news of his death, but can't remember if it was 85 or 86.

Thorny on the early episodes, and Wally on the later episodes

Ricky. He was funny as a kid and handsome as an adult.

I would have to list Rick as my favorite character, particularly after he became a Rock & Roll star & teen idol! I still enjoy listening to his music very much! I always liked the episodes in which he would get the opportunity to sing one of his many hits during a portion of the show.

Wally was also a wonderful character! He was always positive, upbeat, and ready to have a good time!!! He added so much to that show in his supporting role!

I hate to give away my age, but I watched Ozzie & Harriet when it first aired. I was a teenager then, and all my friends were in love with Ricky. I was the only one in love with Dave! He seemed so much more mature and easygoing.

Thorny rocks!

Also, I think Drew Carey is the reincarnation of Wally.

I am a huge Rick Nelson fan, but enjoyed Wally and Ginger and their on again off again relationship.

It's a tie, for me!

Ozzie is a hoot! But for me, one of the greatest TV characters of all time is Ginger. When she tells off Wally, it's almost better than when Fred Mertz tells off Ethel!

I have always been a fan of Ricky Nelson, even before I heard of this show.

Rick(y) is my favorite! He was so handsome, and then, or course, there was the singing. Aaahhh!! Dave was pretty cool too. :p I really didn't like Clara...that voice was too "Lucy" and screetchie!

Ginger cause she's sassy and doesn't take any of Wally's B.S.
Miss Edwards because she's pretty, pleasant and ultra-competant
Harriet for her exquisite sense of timing and humor
David & Ricky cause they're nice guys

i second that! besides what's already been mentioned, remember that oz was director, producer and head writer of this show for the majority of its run-only seinfeld can compete with this one for pure comic logic-a true sitcom gem never given its due!

Thorny in the early eps. Was always a fan of Don Defore. Thorny and Qz always had some sort of contest or competition going on between them. I remember the episodes about Losing weight, boxing, and the basketball tourney.

Wally in the later eps. The man virtually lived on nothing. He would show up right at suppertime at the Nelson house, Ginger paid the check when he took her out to eat, and he borrowed all his money from his fraternity brothers. What a genius.
Wally:" You can't expect me to study on a empty stomach "
Ricky:" Your stomach's never empty!!"
Wally:" yeah, and I want to keep it that way..( Maniacal Wally laugh)

1. Ozzie (what a genius!)
2. Thorny (Don DeFore was just perfect)
3. Wally (Skip had great timing)

I like Thorny, too. Like Darby who came later, Thorny almost always seemed to have a smile on his face. He was a bit of a mooch, but a friendly kind !!

(I joined the Don Defore fan club some time ago and asked his son who hosts the site whether he knew of any plans to get O & H on DVD. He didn't know, but said he would ask David Nelson when he got a chance.)

Ozzie, Wally, Rick and I'll throw in a vote for Joe Randolph, your basic suburban neighbor. Also the mysterious Ginger. As others have noted, she seems to have disappeared into thin air. The only mention I can ever find of her other than being on O&H is a credit for a 1942 film called "The Gay Sisters" (I think it had a different conotation then) in which she was a small child. It would be a worthy quest to find out what became of her.

Ozzie was very funny in his own befuddled, confused way, but I want to cast a vote for Harriet....one of the most underrated comediennes in TV history!

Everybody always has this image of "nice and sweet" Harriet coming into the Nelson living room carrying a dish of freshly-baked cookies, but she was so much more than that. Harriet had a great sense of comedy timing and delivery, and she could really put Ozzie in his place with a well-delivered, deadpan one-liner.

Granted, Harriet was no Audrey Meadows, but she DID have a certain caustic "no-nonsense" style of her own. Three cheers for Harriet!
