View Full Version : Those of you 22 years old and older, did you think you were getting old when you
TVFactFan 02-10-2006, 04:31 PM turned 21?-lol I was talking to a friend of mine and she said she was depressed when she turned 21. Who the hell gets depressed when they turn 21 years old? I didn;t start feeling like I was getting older until I was 27. But before 27, the thought of getting old never entered my mind
MsOrange 02-10-2006, 04:32 PM na, i didn't feel old when i felt 21.. i really felt the same.
Mr. Television 02-10-2006, 04:34 PM turned 21?-lol I was talking to a friend of mine and she said she was depressed when she turned 21. Who the hell gets depressed when they turn 21 years old? I didn;t start feeling like I was getting older until I was 27. But before 27, the thought of getting old never entered my mind
I never really got depressed about my age until I hit 35. Thats when I felt old.
Dutabi84 02-10-2006, 04:34 PM I'll get back to you on that one in about 7 months.
Ireneparalegal 02-10-2006, 04:35 PM nope. as a matter of fact, the older I got, the younger I still felt and appear. I am going to be 41 and people don't believe me. Now why the F*** would I lie abt being OLDER????? When I was a teen I would lie abt my age (being older).
Depressed???? are you kidding me Solomon??? God, there are so many things in this world to get depressed over. Have the person you are talking abt read that article abt the woman who went into the hospital to have a baby and was released a quadraplegic amputee!!!! Now that's depressing!
Moonlight Lady 02-10-2006, 04:39 PM At 21? No way. I was pretty happy when I became 21.
moeee 02-10-2006, 04:51 PM I didnt feel older at 21 either.
dawsongirl 02-10-2006, 04:55 PM Nah. Now at 26, that's a different question.
moeee 02-10-2006, 05:03 PM Im 26, and i still dont feel old.
TVFactFan 02-10-2006, 05:05 PM Nah. Now at 26, that's a different question.
I was kind of depressed when I turned 30 and didn;t want anyone to say happy 30th birthday but they did it anyway-lol
moeee 02-10-2006, 05:06 PM i would rather be 30 than 60!
Chad Michael Murray 02-10-2006, 05:14 PM Well, I just turned 21 not even 2 months ago, and I can tell you that I really do feel sometimes like I'm getting old. Not necessarily "old" in the literal sense, but...I dunno. Older than I've ever felt before.
Like, I still feel and act like a teenager, and I always wonder how old will be 'too old' to be that way anymore. Really, the last time I identified with my age was when I was 16, cause it was just such a great time for me and lots of times, I find myself wishing I could still be 16. Up until a couple of years ago though, I could still pass for 16-17, and now even when people don't know my exact age, they at least assume that I'm 19-20. I don't like people looking at me and automatically knowing I'm an adult.
Most of my interests though are teen interests, and I always wonder if when I'm in my 30s if I'll be the same way, or if I'll actually have adult interests. It's pretty confusing, and I always wonder if people see me and go "God, that guy needs to realize he's not young anymore."
Nighthawk76 02-10-2006, 05:16 PM I was excited about turing 21. After all, that was drinking age. I'll be 30 in August and even though I often kid around about feeling old, I still feel pretty young.
seventies_sitcoms 02-10-2006, 05:54 PM It all starts going fast after you're 21. I'll be 35 next month and I feel like I'm ready to plan my funeral. Of coarse, I know when I'm 60 I'll be laughing and asking myself "Why was I so depressed in my thirties for?"
Dean Winchester 02-10-2006, 06:17 PM I thought most people look forward to 21... now I am not looking forward to 30
GARFIELDKOOL 02-10-2006, 08:27 PM I was glad when I turned 21, because I was old enough to buy alcohol. LOL Turning 21 is like getting your driver's license. When I got to my late 20s, people start warning me that 30 was creeping up. At 31, I still feel like I did 10 years ago.
Brian Damage 02-10-2006, 08:43 PM 21 was a great age....30 kind of was depressing but not devastating.
Steve M. 02-10-2006, 10:31 PM I got depressed when I was 23. I had just graduated from college and I couldn't find a job because the George H.W. Bush recession began in New Jersey before it began nationwide. Between 1988 and 1991, I wished I was still in college, because I couldn't get my act together in the outside world! :( I didn't get to enjoy that time of my life very much.
swedeace 02-10-2006, 11:58 PM Not at 21, but I remember how depressed I felt when I turned 20. It felt weird going into my 20s after being used to my teens. Now...pfft... it's nothing now.... It'll probably be the same way for me when I turn 30. *worried look*
The Chauffeur 02-11-2006, 12:48 AM I'll be 34 next month and it's just now starting to hit me :(
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 02-11-2006, 01:25 AM Yes. I dont necessarily feel 'old', but I feel like these are the best years of my life and Im not doing anything. I just feel like Im not doing enough to be successful or enjoy my youth and Im just living it plainly. When I was younger this is not how I had envisioned myself at 21.
Brad Russ 02-11-2006, 02:27 AM I felt pretty old at 21. Mostly physically though. Now I'm 24, and that's the age my mind feels, but my body feels more like what I'd imagine it would feel like at 60. I'm pretty worn down most of the time.
Mikado 04-16-2006, 03:09 AM i really started feeling old, when i realised i was too old to date college girls
CollegeDropout 04-16-2006, 10:49 AM I turn 20 in a couple months and the way I look at it, I am half-way to 40 which scares me. I know in the grand scheme of things I am not by any means old but in my own mind I think that I am. As well, my brother is turning 22, and the thought of being in my 20's makes me feel older. Its weird you used to look at college kids when you were younger and be like "wow" and feel like they are so much older. Now that I am at that level, its a mixed feeling, I sometimes want to be back in highschool and then other times can't wait for my life ahead, marriage, ect.
Polniaczek033 04-16-2006, 11:03 AM my sister just turned 21 a few months ago so i asked her.. and she said no. it felt like her life was finally starting.
TVFactFan 04-16-2006, 11:08 AM i really started feeling old, when i realised i was too old to date college girls
Well howold is too old to date a female that is in her last year in college? I'm 30 and currently getting to know a 22 year old.
Brieannas21 04-16-2006, 06:47 PM I'm 25 and I have days when I feel like an old woman.
TVFactFan 04-16-2006, 07:01 PM I'm 25 and I have days when I feel like an old woman.
I felt good at 25, it wasn't until 27 when I felt like an old man. Maybe that's why I only want to date females 20-23-lol

Well I have two kids a husband and a job that takes up way to much of my time. I have more responsibilities then what you had at 25.
Good Luck finding a meaningful relationship with a 20 yr old

Well, when that big #4 began to precede all my ages 40 41 42 ...etc..I thought i was truly too old for college girls and was turning down dates with 28 yr old women...strangely when i was 41, i had a torid thing with a 22 yr old woman! @_@ ( She turned out to be a fickle and immature cheater , and since then, i totally reject anyone under 30! )

I would never take a 21 year old female seriously, it would just be someone to play with-lol
Mikado 04-16-2006, 10:44 PM I would never take a 21 year old female seriously, it would just be someone to play with-lol
Well, I take relationships to heart

LuLu Rogers 04-17-2006, 06:43 PM I'll be 21 in 2 years, does that count? LOL! A lot of people actually think I'm about 24 or 25 when they see me. I get asked out by some 30 something year old guys because of it, LOL!!!
Kazza 04-17-2006, 06:47 PM I would never take a 21 year old female seriously, it would just be someone to play with-lol
That's so inmature of your part. At 21, I was already married.:p
LuLu Rogers 04-17-2006, 06:53 PM That's so inmature of your part. At 21, I was already married.:p
ITA with you on that one. That's one reason people think I'm older than I am is because I act like a mature adult, not some ditzy college girl.
Mikado 04-18-2006, 12:04 AM That's so inmature of your part. At 21, I was already married.:p
hmmm ive never been married, but, thats cause im 44 going on 16 :P

SBTB Geek 04-18-2006, 01:58 AM I'm going to be 21 in a few months, and to be honest, I feel old mentally. Some of the things my friends do seem so obnoxious to me--drinking, going out every night, taking a day off to smoke weed... no thanks.
I'm graduating this time next year and so is my girlfriend. I feel like proposing, buying a home and even start a family.
When I was younger I felt as if I would want to live up my single days, it's funny how things quickly change.

I don't know how anyone could feel old mentally at 21
I just turned 26 on Sunday and I am starting to feel a little old only because it is getting closer to 30. It is like 30 is there pulling at you...lol. Times goes by so fast. But at 21, I did not feel old at all but it seems like once you hit 21 the years seem like they go even faster.
Brian Damage 04-18-2006, 10:26 AM 21 is a partying age, I don't know why anybody would feel old at 21.
TVFactFan 04-18-2006, 11:19 AM That's so inmature of your part. At 21, I was already married.:p
Well most 21 year olds are not looking to settle down.
SBTB Geek 04-18-2006, 02:24 PM I don't know how anyone could feel old mentally at 21
I feel like I'm too old to be partying, like it's time for me to settle down. :\
Ireneparalegal 04-18-2006, 02:27 PM Well, I take relationships to heart
Good answer Mikado. My best friend is ten years younger than me and at the age of 19 she was very mature. She graduated from paralegal school and we worked side by side. She was so mature, people didn't think she was only 19. I would never think in my life I would be best friends with a girl who was ten years younger than me. Obviously, you can't judge people by their age...ONLY BY THEIR MATURITY AND HOW THEY CARRY THEMSELVES.
