The MINUTE I found this one store here in SF, called "Amoeba Records," that had 'em all, I snatched 'em up! Now, my 26 year old British boyfriend, who never heard of the Brady's his entire life, LOVES the show. Tweety 02-10-2006, 07:59 AM how can people not have heard of the brady bunch?!?!?! not even the movies?!?! yeah... I can see if someone was born say, 15 minutes ago, then yeah, maybe THEY wouldn't have heard about the Bradys... But to go through life, reaching the age of 26, and having never heard of them???...that is just inexcusable ! Bachu 02-11-2006, 09:31 AM Because the Brady Bunch never had a gimick in the way Betwitched or The Munsters did, it never became a well known show here in the UK. It was screened by Sky a few times in the early 90s but at 3.15pm when most people didn't have access to Sky. I did and that is where I fell in love with the show. The Brady Bunch Movie made it to number 1 at the box office over here despite no one really knowing what the show was. The power of advertising. The second one went straight to vhs. A women I work with aged about 19-22 has never heard of Roseanne Barr and she was had a show that was screened here a year after it first started in the US! Bachu 02-11-2006, 09:31 AM yeah... I was only kidding about not hearing about the Bradys as being inexcusable. I know that it wasn't shown much in the UK... Funny you should mention Rosanne and the 19-22 age group... Back in about 1988, I worked with a girl (who was 20 at the time, I would have been 28), and she was the first person I'd met in the workplace that couldn't name the four Beatles... she knew Paul (who was still cranking out albums at the time) and she knew Ringo and John, though not as well, but she could never remember George... Every few weeks I'd drill her--- I mean, quiz her and I'd say "name the four Beatles"...she could never remember George... It was funny to me at the time because this was the first time I'd encountered someone who didn't know who the Beatles were...(other than Grandparents, that is)...but that's the generation gap for you... (btw, the 19-22 year olds you're talking about were probably much better off NOT knowing Rosanne!) Anyway, I meant no offense in my comment, I hope none was taken... btw I love the British comedies... Keeping Up Appearances is my favorite, watch it every Saturday night...and we discovered Monty Python in the mid 70s when I was in high school... no VCRs back then, we used to audio tape the shows so we could learn the lines... gidgetgrape 02-15-2006, 01:03 AM I bought the first and fourth seasons the same days they were released. I bought seasons 2 and 3 at Target for $19.98 around the time of their Black Friday sale. That sale really helped me to catch up. I can't wait to get the final season. comedyfreak 02-15-2006, 08:51 AM I only have season 1 & 2. I'm behind. sixfingers 03-09-2010, 04:12 AM Funny you should mention Rosanne and the 19-22 age group... I had the same problem, I used to always Say "John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr... and the other guy" |
