Seems like out of all the holidays and observances, Valentine's Day causes the most uproar. Some people love it, some despise its very existance. Where do you stand? And is your opinion bases on whether you have a significant other or not?

I'm divided. I like it because it's pink, and there's tons of cute stuffed animals in the stores. Yet it's so overblown anymore. And it's been made out to be too much of a romantic love holiday. What's wrong with celebrating your love for family or friends? It doesn't have to be strictly romance.

It depresses me.

It really is a stupid Hallmark holiday but I am actually looking forward to it this year, mainly becuase I finally have someone to share it with.

I have no significant other but my DD's always take care of drawing or writing something special for me that day and all year around.
I treat myself to CHOCOLATE and this cute stuffed animal monster that sings Manah-Manah.

In India they (elders) don't believe in Valintines day, it's just getting notice by young people over there. The elder said he does'nt believe in western hoidays why beleive in love in one day we beleive that we have love all the time'. The young people of India is suppose to beleive in our ways but, there moving out and getting there own place pretty soon our beleives will dissapear. He said. But, when I was a kid I used to like it likeyour at grade school and kids give you cards that was one of my favorite things, but, I did feel sorry for those of the kids who never recived any.

Just give me the chocolates and no one gets hurt!

Actually I really like those candy hearts with the writing on them better though. That is the only reason I like it.

I get kinda depressed because I don't have a boyfriend, but I will have one soon I hope. :D I do like it because I usually get a lot of candy from my family and friends.

I don't get as giddy about it anymore as I did when I was younger, or like on mine and Jonathan's first valentines day, but I still look forward to it.

Hallmark DOES suck, so I'd rather make things interesting by making my own cards. It was more fun as a kid, cause then all I had to do was get candy. It sucked more as I got older, but this year it isn't gonna seem so bad.

Also, I love all of those holidays that you claim are only for women. I guess when you have somebody to love and cherish to celebrate them, it's a different story.

Easter/Passover rocks so much harder than Valentine's Day.
Plus, you get all the Peeps, Cadbury Eggs and Chocolate Bunnies!!!

All you get for Valentine's Day are boxes of cheap crappy chocolates and anything red or pink with buckets of sugar.

Valentine's isn't associated with love, either. It's more closely tied to the emotions of infatuation and lust.

i usually always hate it, but i like it right now. this is the first year i'll have someone to share it with. :) and i love giving those little kid valentines to all my friends.

I liked it in elementary school when everyone gave each other cards and candies. Now I don't get anything. But this year is gonna be awesome...my single girlfriends and I are going out to dinner! Then I'm gonna get a belated Valentine's Day gift when I meet Anthony Rapp on the 16th!! :rock:

I really don't have a problem with it, but I think it has become overhyped and waaay to commercialized. (What's new with holidays lately) There is a lot more pressure for the guys to get that "perfect gift." Flowers, candy, jewelery,etc,etc...it never ends.

I think women like it more because, it really is their day. It is like their own personal little Christmas. I don't mind expressing my love to my wife, but I don't need a card company and a diamond store telling me when the exact day should be.

I really don't care either way. I never really celebrated Valentine's Day. I am more neutral towards it. I don't hate it nor do I really look forward to it. I love the yummy treats and desserts and the colors and that's about it.

Valentine's Day Depresses me since I haven't had a girlfriend in 9-10 months,and every pretty girl I know has a boyfriend:(
