Whitley Gilbert-Wayne

I liked Maggie.Marisa Tomei truly brought to life a fun-loving,but sensitive young woman.I tried to see the show briefly after she(and three others)departed,but I quickly gave up.

My favorite character throughout the whole characters of A Different World will have to be Whitley!!

jada pinkete's character, i forgot her name.. i also liked jelessa and frankie.

Whitley Gilbert-Wayne, Her character evolved (sp?) from super snob to well not so snobby..but what i liked most is that they kept her overwhelming confidence and spoiledness even when she was broke. Without her i think the show would of cancelled a whole lot sooner. Jasmine Guy was perfect for the role too, i dont see how she isnt so famous now.

It's Hard to narrow it down but I have to pick 2 definitley Dwayne Wayne And Whitley Gilbert-Wayne they were the highlite of the show beginning to end!!

i always liked, Freddie, she was jsut to funny! i also thought that she was jsut so beautiful. i also liked Whitley, Lorna (that's jada's character, i think) and i really, really, really liked kim, jelesa was ok to.

It's gotta be Kim Reese.. I really liked her character.. she always seemed to have it together. She was a friend to everyone and succeeded in everything she tried to do!

Even though she started out being the most ataganizing (spelling might be incorrect)character, I would have to say that Whitley was my favorite character.

Whitley. Great personality.

I agree with april Kim Reese really had it together I also like Whitley duing the later years when she wasn't such a snob. Ron and Dwayne were good because they brought out the best in each other. Freedie as always such a delight to watch, and Mr. Gains he was just to much.

Well, I guess I have two favorite characters, both for different reasons. My faves were Dwayne and Whitley!! Walter Oakes was a good character while he was on the show!

My fave character was Freddie she completely rocked and she was so real!

I liked Dwayne, Whitley, Jada Pinkett's character, Mr Gaines, Jaleesa, Sinbad's character, Col. Taylor.

I like Dwyane Wayne and Ron.

I have to agree that whitley is the best character hands down- but I think what amazes me most is Jasmine Guy's ability to really capture the essence of the character down to the very detail in accent, body movements and other idiosyncracies (uh no spell check)

Mr Gaines and that other girl who in one episode was a victim of abuse from her boyfriend. I can't remember her name? She was funny.

Whitley Gilbert, Dwayne Wayne, Freddie, Ron, Lena, Kim Reese, pretty much the whole cast. But these were the ones I enjoyed the most.:talk:

I love Freddie. I love her free-spirited, hippie, quirky, happy-to-be-different self.

I like Kim, and how she defies stereotypes of black females by showing that we can be intelligent and hard-working.

And I like Dwayne, who dispels the negative stereotypes of black males. He may be kinda corny, but he has a good head on his shoulders and is very grounded.

Whitley, she was the star of the show. I always liked Col Taylor and his son as well. Speaking of Whitley and Col Taylor I saw a documentary with both of them that was filmed in 2003 or 2004. Glynn Turman has aged gracefully- a few grey hairs but he looks the same. Jasmine Guy has wrinkles and bags under her eyes though. She looked middle aged.

What can I say, I loved Whitley! I don't really know why, but on a lot of shows, my fave characters are the spoiled, rich brats. Like on Little House on the Prairie, I loved Nellie Oleson. I'd love to see Jasmine Guy in something these days.
