Since Savage has been discussing her latest cool toys, I'm going to talk about mine! I know this must be old hat to many of you, but I'm new to Tivo & just love it. Did you know if you have a wireless home network, you can transfer Tivo programs FROM Tivo directly to your computer? And then either play them on your computer or make them into DVDs? (Of course you can do this anyway, if you have a DVD recorder hooked up to your Tivo box, too. But I set up the transfers overnight & don't have to futz with the DVD recorder.)
And you can transfer programs on your computer directly to Tivo? Tivo files are somewhat proprietary. The reality is they are just another version of mpg files. I don't know if changing the file extension to mpg works, but the latest version of Videoredo DOES support Tivo formats, so you can convert the Tivo file to mpg. And Tivo desktop software recognizes regular ol' mpg files. (I transferred a home movie of our dogs...so they are on Tivo, now. Hollywood, look out! )
Right now, I'm transferring BACK to Tivo, a program my husband has decided he wants to watch again.
Very cool...
I LOVE technology...as long as it works.

Susie,
How do you get your dog to keep the glasses on? My Shih-Tzu would bite me.

Hi Jen! Actually, the dog wasn't wearing the glasses... The magic of copy & paste at work there!!!! :D The larger photo has TWO dogs wearing the glasses...(it's their version of The Blues Brothers!) So I'd had lots of inquires as to how I got them BOTH to pose with the glasses!!!!

Yup, modern technology paves the way for the manipulative liars in this world to forge things of all kinds  :joke:
Stick with animal pictures and you won't make too many enemies along the way. :happyface Meanwhile, I'll leave my bratty dog alone.
What kind of dog is the one on the left?

Yup...today's technology proves the point to not believe what you see! Both dogs are mutts. The brown one was from the Humane Society back in 1986. A 7 week old tick infested homeless pup who turned out to be a wonderful companion for 16 years. Unfortunately, he's no longer of this world (HARDEST thing I've EVER had to do in my 49+ years...). The one on the right...the people just didn't want her any more. We got her when she was 6 months old & she's a great companion too. Very lovable...can't imagine whey they no longer wanted her..but their loss & our gain. My husband didn't like her at first...too frou frou. But after a while, he just adored her. Possibly because she likes to watch basketball & football with him...
How old is your dog? Are the Dog Whisperer episodes doing any good at your house? (NOT HERE!)

My TIVO has a built in burner with it (u can get those for a little more) so if i save 4 shows to my tivo, i can burn it straight to the disc in 8 mins, with menus allready made (simple tivo menus)
much faster

How old is your dog? Are the Dog Whisperer episodes doing any good at your house? (NOT HERE!)Our dog is five years old, and since shih-tzu's have a life expectancy higher than most dogs, I'm afraid he'll be around longer than we want him. :p "Dog Whisperer" won't do us much good in a practical sense, since our dog is a dog of very little brain. We're more 'black lab' kinda people but living in a smaller home, that'd be unfair for the poor lab.:)
