So, Marla Gibbs wasn't a regular until the 3rd season. See was only seen a handful of times Seasons 1 - 2, right?

One strange thing: In year 3 there's a scene of her in the opening credits and she basically functions as a regular character, but her name didn't actually appear in the opening until season 4, while Zara Cully's name appears in the opening in years 3 and 4 and she only appears 5 times total in those years.

Once Mother Jefferson(the actress) passed ….Marla was on more regularly …they needed an antagonist against the Jeffersons and it was Florence….although with Mother Jefferson it was her against Louise…and Florence vs George. The show with Mother Jefferson was funny but I never understood why she didnt like Louise. The show got funnier with Florence IMO.

Did Florence and mother Jefferson share many scenes together?

Marla Gibbs name is shown in the opening credits beginning in Season 4, but she isn't in the scene. Her name is on the scene from a Season 1 episode where George startles Louise when she is counting spoons. That scene was also in the Season 3 opening but no name was credited on it. From Seasons 5-9, her opening credit scene was from a Season 3 episode where she is dressed as Aunt Jemima. I don't remember what episode her name was on for Seasons 10-11.

Make that two. Florence, Mother Jefferson, Helen, and Louise are sitting at the table having pie in the opening scene of "The Last Leaf." (Which also happens to be Mother Jefferson's last episode)

The question was Florence and Mother Jefferson not Florence and other characters

The question was simply did they share many scenes together, not together without other characters. And in that note, make it three. Who can forget the first episode where Florence notices they "have a cook too." ;)

It's only one scene between Florence and Mother Jefferson. That scene with her saying "you have a cook too" is not them in the same scene because

Mother Jefferson is in the kitchen
Florence is in the dining room
They are not talking to each other

Solomon, they were close enough to each other to consider it to be the same scene. Let's not nitpick please. LOL

Also the scene from "The Last Leaf" should count as well. Because Mother Jefferson directly asks Florence if there is any more pie.
