Three's Company Season One was released "barebones", as they wanted to work on season two. They did a fantastic job with that season and the third season. Bonus feature quality diminished with season four, but I figured, "No big deal, they'll pick it up again with season five." But then the extras worsened. Now we are left with A Lucille Ball retrospective, a commentary (which is a good move that they got these back), and what this discussion thread concerns--- an episode in a foreign language.

Originally (see one of my posts in the season six thread), I thought it was a documentary about how an episode of THREE'S COMPANY was developed (I thought that "polish" was as in shoepolish, not as in the language, then). But recently, I was thinking to myself when reciting the title of the extra aloud, "Wait a minute, that's the language!" Anyways, I am horrified now about what they'll come up with for season seven! GET CHRIS MANN BACK, LOSING HIM WAS THE WORST THING YOU EVER DID, DLT/ ANCHOR BAY! (Tied with releasing ROSEANNE)

This is obviously following up on what some sets like THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES VOLUME TWO have been doing lately (another stupid Hollywood idea), advertising the show in another language.

Nevertheless, it's stupid. Why don't you just provide SUBTITLES, and call them SUBTITLES IN POLISH, don't make an "elaborate" title for it and call it a special feature!

Chris, if you're out there, please do something to get us quality again! I have a total new respect for you, now, after seeing how dramatically horrible the sets have been since they turned you away! The only thing that they did to compensate for the lack of extras was to lower the LP (why not lower the LP and give us quality, too?).

Jump in and give us your stand on this new "extra" and on how the quality of the sets have diminished so much.

So the special feature is going to be an actual episode of Three's Company (with John, Joyce, et al), dubbed into Polish, with English subtitles??? That strikes me as incredibly bizarre and pointless!

No English subtitles, just the episode in Polish. Why don't they just offer us a wisdom tooth removal?

Well, think of it as a way to improve your language skills ;)...I'd rather have an episode in German though ;)...actually I like the idea of having different language tracks on the DVD which most US DVDs are missing and had they put the episode in English, German, French, Polish or so on the DVD, like they usually do here the person could have picked the right language version but just a Polish episode makes no sense to me either.

I agree the extras are not exactly nice...I absolutely love bloopers or interviews, good booklets, commentaries..something on the background of the show...

I own a German copy of the TV show Sledge Hammer! and that one has the best extras I've ever seen...separate booklet, sticker, audio commentaries, four or so I think, interviews, old trailers, goofs, a tribute to one of their dead directors (with the cast remembering him), comic gallery, synchro special, episode guide, biographies, filmographies, slideshow, tv spots, all scripts from two seasons and many more...more than 400 minutes of bonus material..now that's what I call extras ;)

CLARIFICATION OF THIS EXTRA:

No it is NOT an episode in Polish. It is an 8 minute or so featurette introduced by George Sunga. He details the worldwide popularity of the show and new versions of the show are being produced internationally using the original scripts. In Poland, they have their own Three's Company with their own actors (but the same scripts are used). This featurette shows bits of the episode "Paradise Lost" in Polish , interlaced with the US version.

I've seen this featurette. While it is not one of the best featurettes to ever hit DVD, it is well done. And I repeat, it is NOT an episode of Three's Company dubbed in Polish.

So don't assume or knock something that you have never even seen yet.

OK, but it's still a very shabby extras line-up.

I am excited about the price drop, however.

Maybe that's why the price on Season 6 is a bit lower than the previous ones...less content, lower cost!

That actually sounds quite cool... I'm still loving my British Three's Company over here in England. Can't wait to see that extra!

It's not that simple, unfortunately. AB would never listen to the fans.
