I heard about that theory too. It is believed that the aftermath of 9/11 is making it difficult for him to return to the U.S. (that is, if he really is outside the U.S.).

I mentioned in a recent post that there's a new book about Bulger and his brother William (who resigned from his position as UMass president in 2003). It is slated to be released later this month. The title is "The Brothers Bulger", and the author is Howie Carr.

Howie Carr is a Boston radio talk show host, and if I remember correctly, he was interviewed on the UM segment about Whitey Bulger. He has a section called "Whitey Watch" at the WRKO web site. Check it out at the following link.
