View Full Version : Reply Here if you feel Who's the Boss is much much better than...... TVFactFan 01-31-2006, 08:32 PM ROSEANNE!. I watched several eps of Roseanne and it's just not as watchable as Who's The Boss. WTB Is the Better Show. Who agrees? gilligan fanatic 01-31-2006, 08:36 PM tough question. I don't like either one. Very hard for me. I will have to think about it. Dean Winchester 01-31-2006, 09:13 PM how funny, to me, Roseanne's one of those few shows that I don't get sick of despite endless reruns. Who's The Boss is an alright show, but no less than three of the actors, I preferred on other shows (Taxi, Charmed, Soap) Johnny S 01-31-2006, 09:29 PM Nope. Roseanne is better IMO. Mrgman 01-31-2006, 09:34 PM I like WTB way better then Roseanne she is overplayed MikeLutton 01-31-2006, 09:40 PM whos the boss is better iam so sick of Roesanne my god she on every damm channell i can think of expect Hallmark n couple others.we need see wtb more roesanne over played Dean Winchester 01-31-2006, 10:28 PM I agree Roseanne is overplayed, but I still think it's a better show than WTB. Kinda like how Cosby is overplayed, but I'd still say it's better than Blossom. Buffyboy323 02-01-2006, 01:44 AM 1st of all ROSEANNE is 10x better than Who's The Boss. 2nd of all, Roseanne is the better show, that's why she's on every damn channel. I can watch her over and over and over again. (DId WTB? ever make it to number 1?? Don't think so!) And 3rd, TCS is not better than Blossom. :) ClassicTVGal 02-01-2006, 01:54 AM Definately WHO'S THE BOSS? !!!! :D Hundreds of times BETTER than Roseanne! That show just gets annoying and is annoying I feel. (Sorry) Mr. Television 02-01-2006, 01:54 AM I'll say Roseanne was better than WTB bur Roseanne also got real bad near the end but WTB never dropped that much in quality. USTVFanFromUK 02-01-2006, 02:14 AM Roseanne's better quality-wise than WTB? Roseanne was groundbreaking for its time and still is. WTB? was just another typical family friendly sitcom. Even Tony Danza says there is no way it can compare with his previous sitcom, Taxi. There's a reason Roseanne was a bigger hit during it's original and syndicated run than WTB? ever was . . . it's simply a better written, produced, and acted out show. I challenge you to find WTB on any Best of or Critics's picks lists that Roseanne almost always shows up on. You might say well WTB? has a loyal fan following, well so does Roseanne and it gets better RATINGS than WTB?! I would understand if you said something like Cheers, Seinfeld, or Fraiser was a better show than Roseanne, but WTB? WTB? isn't anywhere in the league of the sitcoms mentioned, nor will it ever be both quality and commercial-wise. Roseanne has also aged a lot better than WTB?, the humour in most episodes is still as fresh as the day it originally aired. Their's some shows on that list I wouldn't give the time of day to. USTVFanFromUK 02-01-2006, 02:21 AM Yea but I never cared what critics say. Their's some shows on that list I wouldn't give the time of day to. I understand that and one might claime WTB? has a loyal fanbase, but so does Roseanne. I mean Roseanne is the type of sitcom that stands out from the crowd, whereas WTB? is one of many sitcoms of that genre. Dean Winchester 02-01-2006, 02:24 AM IMO, the 90's sitcom was pretty much saved by Roseanne and Seinfeld. I like WTB too, it's fun in the occasional rerun, but I do agree with Danza that Taxi was definately the better show. Katherine Helmond was the best thing about WTB IMO, and even she was put to much better usage on Soap. MikeLutton 02-01-2006, 04:09 AM i like Roesanne n Whos the boss but Roesanne is way overplayed my god few days ago i couldnt watch Fresh prince was Roesanne marathon was on.anything better then Blossom lol friendsfan77 02-01-2006, 05:32 AM whos the boss is better iam so sick of Roesanne my god she on every damm channell i can think of expect Hallmark n couple others.we need see wtb more roesanne over played The only time I watch Roseanne is at 10 am and 10:30 am on one of my local stations. I hate how cable likes to rerun abuse shows. troopoleon8897 02-01-2006, 08:10 AM Alright, WTB? is a great show and I don't want to take anything away from it so I'll stop with how great the show is, I like It and I enjoy watching it but.... Roseanne is in my opinion a better show, It is a classic, It has alot of real lol moments (not saying WTB? doesn't) It was possibly the best or second best sitcom from the 90's. It broke certain barriers (The Lesbian kiss, DJ's masterbating, etc.) and plenty of other classic moments. Now we keep hearing its over played but The fact isn't ohh which show would you rather see at ten o'clock its which show is better and if you watch one episode of WTB? next to Roseanne it is better... Was it that they were the first unattractive family on TV? friendsfan77 02-01-2006, 10:56 AM what made Roseanne groundbreaking? Was it that they were the first unattractive family on TV? They were one of the first that proved that the average family really isnt the perfect picket fences, sugar & candy canes, and Walt Disney type. The age of Leave It To Beaver, Father Knows Best, etc. were nice and they were great shows, but in reality, pretty much no family is really like that. I don't think either show is better than the other, that is unless we were comparing it to Roseanne after the lottery win. TVFactFan 02-01-2006, 11:01 AM They were one of the first that proved that the average family really isnt the picket fences, sugar & candy canes, and Walt Disney type. I don't think either show is better than the other, that is unless we were comparing it to Roseanne after the lottery win. One of the things I don;t like about Roseanne is that in some eps it just focused on Roseanne and Jackie or Roseanne and Dan or Roseanne and one of the those waitress at the Diner. On Who's the Boss, all the eps involved the whole cast. It was never just Tony and Angela for 20 min of the 25 min episode like it was on Roseanne. Brian Damage 02-01-2006, 11:08 AM I enjoyed Roseanne somewhat, but Who's the Boss wins by a slight edge. Chain Gang Member 02-01-2006, 12:15 PM Who's The Boss? is better Dean Winchester 02-01-2006, 02:35 PM what made Roseanne groundbreaking? Was it that they were the first unattractive family on TV? what was so unattractive about them? Dan wasn't too bad looking in the first season or two when he was stocky but hadn't let himself go to the point of heart attack risk. Darlene and Becky were both attractive, granted, not Alyssa Milano or Christina Applegate, but certainly not people you'd think were hideous. I also think Roseanne blossomed into a very attractive woman as the show progressed. Do you wanna know why people identified with the Conners? they were normal! People got sick of these superhuman families presented on TV. The Conners were people that you knew, or maybe even your own family. They were real people, had real issues, had real clothes (as opposed to Cliff sporting a different $500 sweater every episode), had real emotions, and you loved them for that. There was no condescending attitude in the Conner's the way that the Huxtables looked down on everyone. Everybody loved Darlene, she had her flaws and her strengths and her sarcasm kept the show afloat. About the "episodes only have the cast in it" story, that is one of the things that a lot of us loved about the show. You loved the characters so much that you didn't need outside characters. Plus, by latter seasons, there were like 10-12 regulars, so you didn't always need guests in episodes because the Conner's became such an extended family. About "not being able to watch Fresh Prince because Roseanne's on", don't forget N@N has given FP marathons that those of us who don't like it were miserable for a week as well. spunkygirl 02-01-2006, 02:38 PM I like both shows, but I love WTB? better. Yes Rosanne was more realistic, but IMO WTB had more heart. And yes Roseanne is definitely way overplayed, they've had how many marathons in the last few weeks? Too many to count. Dean Winchester 02-01-2006, 02:45 PM I rarely watch Roseanne on N@N to be honest. That's the way to keep liking a show. I quit watching Golden Girls when Lifetime began overplaying it, and I still love the show and can't wait to have all the seasons on DVD. Same goes with Seinfeld, I may occasionally watch it on TBS if it's an episode I don't have on DVD and haven't seen in ages (like last night I caught some of "The Butter Shave", which I haven't seen in eight or nine years), but most of the time, I won't watch it. spunkygirl 02-01-2006, 02:48 PM I've been mostly watching Roseanne on Oxygen, but even Oxygen has started with the overplaying of Roseanne with the marathons too Classicshowsgurl15 02-01-2006, 04:14 PM Definetly Who's The Boss. USTVFanFromUK 02-01-2006, 04:26 PM what made Roseanne groundbreaking? Was it that they were the first unattractive family on TV? For starters it was the first sitcom in which the female lead was in complete control of the household, without having to answer to a supreme male figure. Dan was in no way superior to Roseanne in running the household or taking care of the children, he often complained about this. Also, shows ended when issues weren't dissolved or solved. The family was in no way, shape or form perfect, they weren't ugly, they were normal looking. I'd say most people in a normal western society resemble the Conners than most regular sitcom families. Roseanne was one of the first sitcoms to highlight feminism, homosexuality, and most obviously working-class America. The list just goes on... EmoJoe 02-01-2006, 08:31 PM i agree but um...the 2 shows are very different so i dont see why you compared them. this is only gonna start trouble anyway Dean Winchester 02-01-2006, 08:48 PM i agree but um...the 2 shows are very different so i dont see why you compared them. this is only gonna start trouble anyway I agree, Growing Pains is a much better "rival" show for Who's The Boss USTVFanFromUK 02-01-2006, 08:49 PM I agree, Growing Pains is a much better "rival" show for Who's The Boss Hell, even The Nanny is a better comparison as both shows shared many of the same producers and premise. It was definitely the way both shows were written. Roseanne was just so...I don't know. I couldn't stand it when it was on and I still can't stand it today. Yet I can watch MF and enjoy it because it is written differently than Roseanne.
