Or younger...Doesn't matter.

I'm just curious as to how many people here graduated, or will graduate, from high school at 17 or younger. Most of the time, people graduate from high school when they are 18 or older (it happens).

I was one of these people that graduated from high school when I was 17. I turned 18 the summer I graduated from high school, but it was still pretty cool. I COULD have graduated from high school at 18 in 2004, but I moved up a grade midway through the school year so I graduated in 2003 instead. I'm not complaining, at least I graduated a year early. :D

How about you??

Well, I graduated at 17, but some classmates graduated at 18. This is all notwithstanding students who may have failed or skipped a grade.

Where I grew up, the admission policy was that students are admitted strictly based on calendar year, with entry into kindergarten being five years away and graduation from high school as 18 years away from your birth year.

For example, if student A was born on January 1, 1980 and student B was born on December 31, 1980, both are expected to start kindergarten in the academic term that begins five calendar years away, which is usually around September 1985. And both are expected to graduate high school 18 calendar years away, with the end of the school year usually around June 1998. If that's the case, student A will be 18 while student B is still 17 at graduation.

Other areas and school districts may have different admission policies with regards to bith dates, but my district was strictly by calendar year only.

i'll be seventeen. having been born in july, i'm always about the youngest person in my grade. had i been born a month or two after i was, i would be a grade lower.

I was 17 when I graduated in 2003. I didn't turn 18 until my fourth month into college in November that year.

Blech I'm glaaaaad my birthday is during the school year. I'd feel weird just being one age through one grade and stuff. So, by the time I graduate I'll have been 18 for a little over 2 months.

I was in the same situation as you, Allison :) I was 17 when I graduated in June of 2000, and turned 18 in August.

same here. i'm one of the 5 youngest in my grade. my birthday is august 29, so i won't be 15 until next school year. and i'm a freshman. so i, too, will be 17 when i graduate.

I finished school at 16.

Congratulations!! :D I admire people who graduate when they are younger than 17. I knew this teacher many years ago (early 90's) who graduated from high school when he was 15. AMAZING. I truly admired him... haven't seen him in years.

Ditto. I was third youngest in my grade. The #1 youngest was a guy who was born in October.

I was 17 when I graduated in 2003. I didn't turn 18 until my fourth month into college in November that year.

If I -HAD- started college for the fall 2003 semester, I would have turned 18 right before school started. I've always thought that it would feel weird to still be 17 and be in college.

I'm the opposite. I think it's weird to have a birthday during the school year, esp. if it winds up during the school week. Why would I want to be in school on my birthday? BLECH! :barf:

I was 18 but my mom graduated when she was 17. Her birthday is in September so when she started her freshman year of college she was still 17.

I'm like that too. I'll be 17 when I graduate, but I'll turn 18 that summer.

I was in my early twenties when I graduated from high school.
As the saying goes: "Better Late Than Never" (glad that I did it) when I had the chance; not to mention the courage and everything else too.
