Just wondering what languages everyone can speak. My native language, probably as most of us here, is English. I'm in my 3rd year of Spanish now and am also picking up Swedish. What about everyone else?

Well, since I missed posting on the other foreign language thread....

I took 4 years of French in high school. I still remember quite a bit of it, too!! I can read it, and speak it enough, like to ask questions or maybe order in a restaurant, but I don't think I could hold a conversation with it though. I would probably just catch words here & there.

I was trying to teach myself German with a translator book I got at Barnes & Noble. I know a little. I should keep that up.

投信:農曆年後 台股表現值得期待 寄給朋友 友善列印

Yahoo!

Just wondering, how similar or different is Brazilian Portuguese with Portuguese Portuguese? Would you say it's analogous to American and British English in that each have their own tones, words, and slang but they can still understand each other?

Hablo Español. (Spanish)

There are also similiar languages in the respective Romantic and Germanic circles that I can read and comprehend because they are similiar with the above languages. Those languages would be German, Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, Italian, and Portuguese.

Yep, one of my hobbies is languages. I have a knack for learning them. :D

I speak English (of course) and Portuguese (from Portugal). Your analogy is exactly how I would describe the difference in Portuguese Portuguese and Brazillian Portuguese.

I can't really speak Spanish, but I can understand the majority of it since it's very similar to Portuguese.

Very cool mini bio you gave me!! Yeah, I can read/decipher some of those words as they are so close to English and German. Ahhh... I love similiar languages... I remember one of the Dutchie Acers told me how to say "thank you." I remember the first part of it was "danke" but didn't catch the second word.

BTW, I think your last sentence was complimenting me, correct? If so, thank you. :)
