Ricky's estimate of fruitbowl-- $10. Ethel's shoes were $16.

"Memory buster" [anyone remember the old game show, Split Second?]:
Mr. Ritter, Mrs. Walberg, Mr. Merriweather, Mrs. Hanson, Mr. Stewart.... which 3 of these were not a business owner in the Ricardo/Mertz neighborhood? (I think each of these names appears in only one ep)

Mr. Ritter, Mrs. Walberg, Mr. Merriweather -

Mrs. Hanson owned the dress shop and Mr. Stewert owned the appliance store, I believe.

tdr
03-13-2006, 08:39 PM
No, Mr. Stewart was the new tenant who tried to force Fred to enforce the 'no pet' clause when Little Ricky first got Fred the dog; then Fred gave him back his check for 3 months' rent in advance and told him to scram. Mr. Ritter was the grocer that the tenant "Miss Lewis" was trying to catch (and at the end it appeared she finally did).

So the correct answer is: Mrs, Walberg (president of the 'Ladies' Overseas Aid,' which Lucy and Ethel thought they made up), Mr. Merriweather (theatrical producer trying to contact his dead cocker spaniel  ), and Mr. Stewart.

New Q: Who was the actor who played a young visitor to New York in just one episode, who also played a small role in another series in which he beat up one of the stars?

Young visitor? I'm trying to think who was young in the show. Other than the Hudson twins and little Kenneth Grant, I can't think of a sole. I'll keep thinking. Oh I think I know. Bart Bradley. He played the italian boy in the episode where the four had to climb 4 flights of stairs. "IT's My birthday too."
Later costarred on Vegas.

Oh my question.
Who did Lucy say Ethel Looked like when she did hair up in the episode with Barbara Eden. It's snap to answer the question.

tdr
03-18-2006, 08:08 PM
Lucy said Ethel looked like Grace Kelly (later known as Princess Grace of Monaco).

The young visitor was Stephen Wootten, who played 'Little Barney' in "Mertz and Kurtz." He also played Clyde Appleby in the Leave it to Beaver eipsode, "Beaver and Ivanhoe," in which Beaver read Ivanhoe and tried to be like him, going around making wrongs right. Clyde Appleby was a 'big guy' who stomped little kids' marbles into the ground, so Beaver went to set him straight and got whupped  .

Nope. Gale Gordon always portrayed a fictional character, never his celebrity self.

No, not Tennessee Ernie. That's a good guess. But even though I think his character on each of those shows was called Ernie or Tennessee Ernie, just like his real celebrity name, I don't think he was ever really portraying himself. On "I Love Lucy" he was Cousin Ernie from the fictional town of Bent Fork, Tennessee (the real Tennessee Ernie Ford came from Bristol, Tennessee). The character on TLS was from some other place down South. And the one on HL was some unknown, low-income buy living on a ranch some place in California. The real Tennessee Ernie Ford was a very well-known, well-off celebrity with a number of hit records to his name. The person I have in mind, while playing his true, celebrated self, had encounters with Lucy Ricardo, Lucy Carmichael and Lucy Carter.

I think it was Jack Benny.

In "the Fashion Show," a celebrity's wife couldn't make it so Lucy took her place. Who was the wife?

NOVARick

I think it was Jack Benny.

Nope. Jack Benny met Lucy Carmichael and Lucy Carter, but he never met Lucy Ricardo. There was, however, a CBS special in 1952 that featured Benny interupting "I Love Lucy" rehearsals, but that was really Lucille Ball encountering Jack Benny, not Lucy Ricardo. So again, who was the male celebrity who had encounters with Lucy Ricardo, Lucy Carmichael and Lucy Carter?

For some reason Mrs. William Holden keeps going 'round in my head, but don't think that was it (think she was the wife announced just before Lucy came out).

Bravo! Madame X wins. Yes, it was Milton Berle. Milton Berle met Lucy Ricardo twice -- in the 1959 Lucy-Desi episode, "Milton Berle Hides Out at the Ricardos" and also in Milton Berle's 1959 NBC special guest-starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz as the Ricardos. He met Lucy Carmichael three times: in the 1965 episode, "Lucy Saves Milton Berle"; in a cameo (presumably as himself) in the 1966 episode, "Lucy and John Wayne"; and in the 1967 episode, "Lucy Meets the Berles." And Milton Berle met Lucy Carter in the 1973 episode "Milton Berle is the Life of the Party." He also appeared in the 1969 episode, "Lucy and the Used Car Dealer," but that one doesn't count as he was playing a fictional character, not himself.

Joseph & Michael Mayer (toddler)
Keith Thibodeaux (older)

129. Dug up an old game, huh? Cool.
But they didn't actually go to Scotland; that was only a dream. It was England (London), France (Paris), Switzerland (Lucerne), Italy (I think they were in another city before Rome), to France again (Nice; but I don't think we actually see them there), and Monaco. I 'm not sure where they are when they board the plane home. Fred was learning German (at least how to order 9 kinds of beer), but they don't go to (West) Germany in any ep. And, of course, later "Mario" appears, who they had met as a gondolier in Venice, which we don't see.
