View Full Version : When ABCFAMILY is Done...
Buffyboy323 01-29-2006, 06:40 AM ABCFAMILY has had the rights to Step By Step since 2001. Does anyone else want Step By Step on Nick@Nite when it's done on abcfamily??? I think it would be great on Nick. it'd be the only show on there besides Roseanne that I would actually watch. It is a 90s show, and thats the direction N@N is going these days....But I'm probably just dreaming. It'll never happen...I just hope whenever ABCFAMILY is done with the show, it doesn't go in a vault somewhere like other abcfamily shows have done in recent years. (Growing Pains and Wonder years)..I hope some other network picks it up. Maybe local channels....Anyone else have an opinion as to where SBS will be in a few years???
Mrgman 01-29-2006, 12:07 PM I think Nick at nite would be a good idea
SBS Fanatic 99 01-29-2006, 06:25 PM i am pretty sure that sbs contract with abc family ends in september or october this year.
Karen* 01-30-2006, 03:04 AM I would die happy if it aired on Nick at Nite.
Buffyboy323 01-30-2006, 04:03 AM Step By Step is 10 times better than all those new shows coming to N@N!
Chain Gang Member 01-30-2006, 07:34 PM As long as it's on at a good time,I don't care which channel it's on
troopoleon8897 01-30-2006, 09:04 PM Step By Step is 10 times better than all those new shows coming to N@N!
I agree with you that step by step is better than some of the shows coming but It is not anywhere near 10x better than Home Improvement. Anyways back to the subject as much as I like Step By Step I don't want it on N@N anytime soon with the 4/7 shows that get high ratings there isn't a good timeslot for it and they wouldn't give it a spot to prove itself, maybe in 2008 when full house, TCS, and Roseanne are gone they should bring it in but Personally I would rather not see it bomb and have no chance of being picke up...
Danaishot 01-31-2006, 12:17 AM I would love for it to come on Nick at Nite that way I could be home when it's on. I'm not home during the day. Plus everytime nick at nite brings in a new show they put on a marathon.
hughpuppies 02-14-2006, 04:31 AM How many episodes of Roseanne do they show on Nick@Nite? Like 4-6 take like 3 away if they have 4 and take 5 away if they have 6 and take one of Fresh Prince away and you can add a few more shows to Nick@Nite.

troopoleon8897 02-14-2006, 08:11 AM hughpuppies, why didn't you just say you would like to see every other sitcom besides Roseanne and TFPOBA? lol
Mrgman 02-23-2006, 07:58 PM How many episodes of Roseanne do they show on Nick@Nite? Like 4-6 take like 3 away if they have 4 and take 5 away if they have 6 and take one of Fresh Prince away and you can add a few more shows to Nick@Nite.
Yeah I know seriously. Roseanne is overplayed it even plays back 2 back on my local
JulieSomoski 02-24-2006, 05:38 PM Well, nick at nite is acquiring Home IMprovement, which comes September 2006, Mad About You coming this April 11, Designing Women which comes October 2006 and Different World coming in June or July. And step by step would never come, because the show is already getting older and it never did well when it originally aired. Roseanne, Cosby, Full House, and Fresh Prince were all in the top 20 for years, and Roseanne and Cosby were #1 and tied at that for 5 years. Why do you think they show Roseanne so much?

I was saying that becasue the thread is about step by step and you mentioned about 80 other shows...
Danaishot 03-08-2006, 08:32 PM The show isn't as highly acclaimed as the shows that are on Nick at Nite, so they may not want to pick it up. We may not see it again if/when ABC Family drops it. Honestly I don't see the SBS tv favorites dvd selling well(we'll buy it, but will others?), thus no season dvd sets. It'll suck not seeing this show again other than the dvd that's coming out this summer.
tvlover85 03-12-2006, 09:00 PM I think that possibly, with The Hogan Family/Valerie now being picked up in April, that ABCFamily might renew their contract for Step By Step, and even possibly pick up Perfect Strangers (The Miller-Boyett hit quintuplets). However, other options I could see with this show...
Viacom (for Nick at Nite/Noggin's The "N" or CMT (which both carry The Jeff Foxworthy Show), and in a few years, TV Land)
Lifetime (they're picking up Reba and Still Standing this fall, so why not another family sitcom?)
Hallmark (but I hope they do not pick this up since they treated Family Ties like garbage)
Back to local syndication (release Perfect Strangers also; hey, they did it last fall with The Nanny/Mad About You/Who's the Boss?/Charles in Charge)
Possibly on TBS/Superstation WGN in AM
troopoleon8897 03-12-2006, 09:47 PM Nick at Nite - possible
Noggin's The "N" - More possible
CMT - Not hick-ish like the 3 shows they have aired
TV Land - No Way in hell
Lifetime - more female oriented than still standing
Hallmark - i doubt it
local syndication - possible
TBS - not what they go for anymore
Superstation WGN - less possible
tvlover85 03-13-2006, 08:47 PM Actually I think they would be a good fit for either TBS and/or Superstation WGN, since each station carries reruns of Mama's Family, Saved By the Bell (on TBS), Happy Days and Beverly Hillbillies (WGN) weekday mornings. It would go especially well with Saved By the Bell or Happy Days. (SBtB for the youth appeal; Happy Days because of similar plots and both shows were produced by Miller-Boyett...well Happy Days was produced by Miller-Milkis and later Miller-Milkis-Boyett).
masterblooregard 04-02-2006, 02:43 PM I actually can't see it on either N@N or TBS. N@N pretty much only airs what were considered "hit" sitcoms. Step by Step was never a big hit with either critics or ratings- and its fanbase was never as big as other ABC sitcoms of that time.
And TBS doesn't really do the family sitcom thing anymore with only a few expections.
The only place I could have seen it was really ABC Family, or maybe syndication on UPN or something.
I also don't see The N picking it up becuase they're steering more towards mature shows- (they just picked up Dawson's Creek I heard) and while Step by Step is too family friendly for them, it's still not family friendly enough for Disney Channel IMO (even though BMW and Growing Pains were)
