It was 30 years ago today that "Laverne and Shirley" premiered on ABC. I was watching that night! I didn't want the day to pass without a mention of it on this board.

I was watching on that night too--and almost every other night of America's favorite bottle-cappers' first run adventures. L&S was--and is--a terrific show. I only wish that it had been allowed to have a real finale with some closure instead of half heartedly limping towards cancelation. And what was your reaction to seeing Fonzie from Happy Days in the Laverne and Shirley First episode? shotzette 01-30-2006, 07:06 PM I was very impressed! It was hilarious, and it was a spin off of a huge hit, Happy Days, that was in it's hey day. I know Garry Marshall has his detractors, but they guy knows how to market his work but good! Having Fonzie guest start all but guaranteed a hit premiere since L&S aired right after Happy Days. The Happy Days characters appeared on L&S, and vice versa through out the first few years of the show. GM also had Henry Winkler and Penny Marshall guest star on the first (or second, I can't remember if it was a two parter--I'm old) episode of Mork and Mindy; with similiarly wonderful results. And what was your reaction to seeing Fonzie from Happy Days in the Laverne and Shirley First episode? I remember watching the first ep w/ my brother, and he said it looked like a flop to him. But then, he thought Quark would be a big hit. The sad thing about this show is the first ep was also its highest-rated ep ever, so the show had nowhere to go but down after that, though it stayed pretty high for awhile. comedyfreak 01-31-2006, 03:11 AM I do hope Paramount does something for their Anniversary, we need another reunion.
