During GI's third season Sherwood Schwartz made another series for CBS called It's About Time . For a long time I had always wanted to see it and I finally got to see a whole episode. Just like on GI and The Brady Bunch, he wrote produced and created the show. A lot of the music from GI was very similar to It's About Time because Gerald Fried did both. Also another thing was the unmanned spaceship from Splashdown was the crews spaceship. The jokes were very similar to GI. The laugh track was also the exact same so that made it eerie to. If you like the episode The Secret of Gilligan's Island I am sure you will like It's About Time.

I remember seeing this a long time ago. I loved the theme but could never work all the words out. I'm surprised it's not rerun very much. I have to admit though the show didn't grab me like GI did.

I'm pretty sure it aired on Sunday night, my sister and I always wanted to watch this show, and our older brother always wanted to watch "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea"....that must have been the last year we only had one TV in the house. I think "Voyage" ran from 7 to 8 pm, and It's About Time ran either from 7 to 7:30 or 7:30 to 8...

We liked the show at the time, I don't know how much I'd like it if I saw it today. I'm not sure it ever aired in reruns, I think it was only on for one season. The first half of the season, Hector and Mac (the astronauts) went back through time to the Stone Age, and in the 2nd half of the season, they managed to escape to the present, and brought the cave-folk with them.

I never knew "It's About Time" was a Sherwood show. I don't know that I'd like it today if I saw it, but I would love to see it again anyway.

I asked Sherwood Schwartz why it doesn't air in reruns. He said that it did not have enough episodes to be syndicated. I think it might have caught on in reruns the way GI did. They could easily be shown back to back.

yea, I remember that show! I remember I used toLOVE it! on www.tvobscurities.com they talk about it and have a clip of the animated beggining, with that memorable theme song.

about two men in the strangest place.....that's all I remember, exept during the last half of the season when the cave people came to the modern world, "two men" was changed to "cave people"

Yeah, considering that it was only on for one season, how tough would it be to put it out on DVD? "Gidget" was only one season, and it's either out already, or it's coming out soon...

yea, and "Lotsa Luck" & "Good Morning World" were both on for just one season, and they're both out on DVD.

..."IT'S ABOUT TIME" was on CBS' Sunday night schedule at 7:30pm(et), just before "THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW", in the 1966-'67 season. It lasted 26 episodes (too much competition from "WALT DISNEY'S WONDERFUL WORLD OF COLOR" and "VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA"), and not even a "tweak" in the storyline could save it. I believe the rights are in the hands of Time-Warner, who own all of the Sherwood Schwartz/United Artists shows he produced for CBS (including "GILLIGAN"). Sherwood is right when he said there weren't enough episodes for syndication...there still aren't!!
