Are any of you Country music fans? Whos your fav? What kinda country do you like?

Im partial to the old Honky Tonk Country. Such as Hank, Hank Jr. Hank 3, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, George Jones, David Allan Coe, and Johnny Cash.

I also like some of the more popular singers such as Dwight Yoakam, Chris Ledoux, and George Strait.

I like classic country. I don't really like country after the 60's. The 30's-the early 60's is what I like.

Mary Robbins, Johnny Horton, Sons of the Pioneers, Gene Autry, Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams Sr, Tennessee Ernie, Tex Ritter., just to name a few.

I don't listen to typical country music, but I do listen to some country-esque indie musicians. Lately I've been listening to this guy named Langhorne Slim who plays the banjo. He is AMAZING. Okkervil River has a lot songs where the mandolin, steel pedal, and harmonica are very prominent. They could be considered an alt-country band to some extent. There are also a few other bands that are alt-country-ish that I listen to like Shearwater, Timesbold and Phosphorescent.

I'm a fan of anything that plays on Nashville's WSM 650 (home of the Grand Ole Opry), which comes in clear at night and on a good day in my car. Strangely enough, my favorite songs come from the Urban Cowboy era of the early 1980s, which does not seem to be the most popular time.

When WSM doesn't come in, WBZI 1500 out of Xenia specializes in classic country plus local artists. On that station Darrell McCall is practically a deity! Has anyone else heard of him? In case you're wondering, he is of no relation to C. W. McCall of "Convoy" fame. New Jasper (rural Greene County east-southeast of Xenia) has signs designating it as his birthplace from what I understand!

I like some country music. Mostly '50s and '60s, some '70s.
My favorite is probably "El Paso" by Marty Robbins (1960).

I mostly like the new stuff (Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Gretchen Wilson). But of course, how can anyone who appreciates country music not love the all time greats, like Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Dolly Parton, The Charlie Daniels Band. I also like country music similar to that of Alison Kraus and Union Station.

I just recently started getting back into country music, I was wondering any of y'all are really into it? I like a lot of the newer artists like the Wreckers and Sugarland. Any recommendations for me?

I used to listen to country back when I was a high school student. Back then I loved me some George Strait. That check yes or no song was awesome. He, in fact, is awesome. I read that he's being inducted into the Hall of Fame at the CMA Awards this year. Good for him, he totally deserves it.

I can't wait to watch the CMAs actually. It'll give me a chance to see a bunch of good artists perform, and see what else is new in country, too. (Plus, who doesn't love awards shows?)

I'm also really looking forward to the CMAs. I really hope they get the Female Vocalist of the Year award right this year. Last year, it very undeservedly went to Gretchen Wilson. I hope they don't make the same mistake this year and give it to Carrie. I love Carrie, but she has not paid enough dues to the industry to receive that prestigious of an award. The Horizon award has her name written all over it, though.

Who would you give it to this year? I like Carrie a whole lot - I'm actually kind of surprised by how good her album is. But I'd be okay with her winning the Horizon award instead of Best Female Vocalist. I think she has has such a banner year that they can't not recognize that in some way. Horizon Award would take care of that though, even though she's up against Sugarland there, who I really like, as well. These categories are tough!

I'm going to be interested to see what wins Album of the Year. From what I've heard of those five, they are all really good. (Though I admit I am partial to Brooks and Dunn a little bit.)

I love Sara Evans. I also like Martina McBride, Shania Twain and Julie Roberts.

Oooh, Julie Roberts! I love her. A friend of mine made me a CD with "Break Down Here" on it and I was hooked. She has such a gorgeous voice!

I can only take country music in doses, a little bit then I have to go back to the music I usually listen to. I've loved Dolly Parton for years, and I've been listening to John Denver since I was a kid. I like alot of the older type country, not too much of the modern music. In fact, I vaguely remember my first concert ever was Glen Campbell. I was only 4.
