I found this article on www.fandominion.com

Book of shadows closes on 'Charmed' after 8 seasons
Eight years was enough for the WB network's popular Charmed series. Time Warner and Tribune, the owners of The WB announced Tuesday that they were shuttering their network.

The WB will be merged with the UPN network to form a new network called "The CW" - which will be made up of some current WB and UPN shows as well as new fare.

The WB said among current shows headed for CW are Smallville and Supernatural. But notably absent is WB Sunday night staple, Charmed.

Since Charmed is not heading to the new CW Network, the current, eighth season of the witchy series will be its last.

UPDATE: Watch with Kristin on E!: On the flip side, by all accounts, Charmed is most likely coming to an end in May, and Kaley Cuoco won't be carrying the torch either. "No spinoff," she tells me. "That's not gonna be happening. Charmed is done, and it has had a great run, and I hope to go off and do something a little bit different."

I'm going to miss "Charmed".:( It's been a great eight years. If you want to see "Charmed" again in reruns after the show ends, watch TNT. My mother watches reruns of "Charmed" since it was on TNT.

Yeah, it hasn't been reported anywhere else so I doubt its been confirmed yet.

I doubt WB is cancelling it when the three stars have gone on record and said its already ending. IMO, there's a difference between a show being cancelled, and a show ending because it's time. Angel was cancelled, Joss and Boreanez both felt the show still had places to go, whereas Buffy wasn't, when Joss and Sarah Michelle Gellar both felt the show had run its course and it was time to go.

If Charmed ends in May, I think it'll be 100% because of the actresses saying no more, and not because WB cut it.

To me the show is officially "unofficially" canceled. It had a nice run. We will have repeats on TNT for many years to come.

I don't like the way the word "cancelled" is thrown around, most shows that lasted over 6 or 7 seasons usually end by choice, not cancelled.

Rose, Holly and Alyssa all said no to a season 9... Charmed was not cancelled, they ended it by their own choice. Just like Friends, Seinfeld, Buffy and Sex And The City ended.

In the TV biz there is no such thing as retiring. When a show ceases to be on the schedule for it is canceled. Use what terminology you like, but the show is not going to be on with new episodes after May.

but "cancelled" is "ratings sucked, the network was finished with you". Considering NBC offered Jerry Seinfeld over $100 million to do a tenth and final season, of which he turned down, I don't think you can say Seinfeld was CANCELLED considering NBC were the last people who wanted that show to end. Seinfeld ended by his own choice. I am sure if Rose, Holly and Alyssa were all "we want to do one more ninth and final season", chances are WB/CW would go ahead and let them have one more round.

IMO, when a show is cancelled, the ratings suck, they're losing a lot of money on it, etc... It's a lot different IMO when the stars decide "this is the last season" than when the network actually informs the cast and crew that it isn't returning.

I agree. I consider the show to be ending, not cancelled.

To me it is all semantics. Call it what you like. Networks refer to shows that are no longer in production to be canceled.

yea if the actors quit it is not canceled. If anything the actors canceled the show.

I have blank DVD-R's so that TNT will hopefully will air the first season of "Charmed" when it comes on. Right now, TNT airs "Charmed Noir". I've seen that episode last year. I will get my DVD-R's ready to air the season 1 "Charmed" on TNT in less than a week entitled "Something Wicca This Way Comes" until the new episodes will end on WB (or soon to be CW) in March. I'll set my DVR for that. I checked up on epguides that the last new episode on "Charmed" is called "The Jung and the Restless". This series finale will air on March 26th or not sure as of yet. Stay tuned.

It'll be airing in May. There are still 6 more episodes to go. The Jung And The Restless won't be the season/series finale.

You're right! Epguides.com need some more updates before the last new episode will appear in May. "The Jung and the Restless" is not a series finale.
