Okay! This is for you fanatics of What's Happening and with a keen eye.

Did any of you ever notice the spanish guy who was always in the background of just about every episode of What's Happening? From watching the show over and over and over again, I always notice that guy. He was an extra but so noticeable, there was only a few shows where he had a few words to say but he was always just hanging out in Rob's Place, in the audience, in the classroom, police station, dancing, anywhere. I would of like to see him cast in the show, I'm just as familiar with his face as I am of Raj, Dwayne and Rerun. He didn't never had anything much to say but you could tell he had personality because out of the extras he made himself noticed.

It's like finding Waldo with him, everytime I watch the show, I look for the spanish guy, he kind of resembles Vinnie Barbarino.
He was hardly ever credited, I wish I knew his name. He must just have been happy being on TV, because I know I would have got fed up with just being in the background and not doing anything.

It's the same with A Different World, they kept the same extras for many seasons, especially this one short guy. But I've never noticed the one hispanic guy that you're talking about, I'll have to keep my eyes open.

Brieannas21, how long have you been watching What's Happening? It seems you never see what we see.

The last episode, The Benefit Show, the spanish guy is in the audience in the front row in the second seat yelling "We want Sammy, We want Sammy."

The episode "Dwayne's Dream," in the first dream, he walks in with an attractive black lady when Rob's Place becomes high society like.

In the episode where the guys sell the Stevie Wonder tickets and go to jail, the spanish guy is right in the background cracking up.

In the episode where the Givens children appear, he's clapping with everyone else and when the camera goes on Dee she looks up at the spanish guy smiling.

In one episode, where either Raj or Dwayne was looking for a job in Rob's Place, Shirley tore half of the newspaper he was reading to give to one of the guys.

When Mama Thomas goes to school, the spanish guy is in the class room.

There's countless others, I know Cindy will know this one.

Since I was born in 81 I didn't have the privilege to watch it when it first aired. When I first watched WH I was around 7/8yrs old and that was in the late 80's and then I again in the mid 90's when it was on BET. So I wasn't looking at the show the same way that I look at it now. I hardly get to watch it on TVLand so I bought the DVD's and I've been watching those when I get a chance.

I do know about the Hispanic/Latino guy that is almost ALWAYS in the background of Rob's Place, PLUS...he's...
In Miss Collins' classroom, in Season 2, episode "The Testimonial", when he gets up per the teacher's request and tells her what the Spanish-American War was about. He was credited at the end of it; I can't recall his name, though!! LOL

Plus, he was at the police station in Season 3, "The Creep Detective", when Raj and Friends got "busted" for the merchandise that Rerun was keeping for so-called neighbors.

This Vinny Barbarino-lookalike appears all through WH...it's something else!!!
 :happyface

But you know, though, it's very ironic in how that "frequent flyer" actor in WH greatly resembles Vinny Barbarino... in a Latino sense!

Oh yeah, I just saw the episode in Season 2 "The Testimonial", where he's the Student...
His name is Richard Couture (real life).

Too MUCH... :p

Hey, I have two kids, a 2 yr old and a 3 month old, and a husband and a job. It's hard to try to catch tv shows everynight when you're trying to satisfy everyone :)
