After four really poor semesters in College I dropped out following the Fall 1996 semester and went to work fulltime at Target. I hated it. Still, it was the best thing to ever happen to me because I realized the importance of a college education so I was back in school for the fall 1997 semester and put forth much greater effort.

Meeting my girlfriend. (We're engaged, but I always think 'girlfriend' sounds more attractive than 'fiancee')

I was feeling pretty alone in the world for about a year until she came along. I always tell her that she's the one who saved me from myself, because I really was at the lowest point in my life ever.

We've been together two years, and I'm happier than ever!

The best thing that has happened to me was watching the Rangers win the Stanley Cup in 1994 and the Yankees win the World Series in 1996.

We don't have a date set in stone yet, but I'm finishing up school this May and then I'll be able to get my license in massage therapy. If everything goes as planned, we'll be moving in together by the Fall, and then getting married after that.

my best friend who has honest to god saved me. she doesn't know it, but the past several months would have been an overload of emotional torture for me if i didn't have her. i would have driven myself crazy by now, but she's guided me to where i want to be. she's always seemed drawn towards me since i met her in 2004, which i never really understood, but she's been in one of my classes since this year and we've gotten close. every little thing fell exactly into place, with the one-in-a-million chance that it would, for this entire situation to happen; i feel like it was all destined.

There are definitely a few moments that stand out for me that are the best things to happen:

1.) Meeting the people who are my closest friends now. Without the laughter and bonds I've experienced through them, I never would've made it.

2.) Getting inducted in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society in college. This was definitely a moment where I felt proud and my parents were proud of me, which is a feat in itself.

3.) Being told I should be a writer by a beloved teacher I had in high school-- without him, I sincerely doubt I would've pushed on this far.

Getting a guitar class in school with the most awesome teacher in the world. I feel like I have the freedom to express myself now.

Mine would have to be:

1. becoming comfortable with myself, and coming out.

2. when I told my mother and she said "So What", do you really think that would change my love for you? And for this, I sweated over it for 20 years!

3. having my partner of 8.5 years (who ever said gays cannot stay in long-term relationships?)

Those are some of the things that I am thankful for. :happyface
