View Full Version : If John Ritter Was Alive and In the Finale...
Adamantium 01-25-2006, 07:02 PM The show was based on the book "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter." On the show, Paul was a writer. Do you think that if John Ritter was still alive and in the finale, Paul would have written and published the book "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter"? So like the show was the experience that made up the book.
Of course there would have been other plots in the episode. But maybe in the episode, Paul could announce that he got his book published.
What do you think?
Number 9 Dream 01-25-2006, 07:10 PM Wow, that would've been a really awesome idea and one I think would've worked well. Man, I miss him so much...I only wish this idea could've happened.
Adamantium 01-25-2006, 07:14 PM I have a copy of the book and it has a new cover (as of 2002) featuring John Ritter, Kaley Cuoco and Amy Davidson. As I was reading the book, I was picturing the teenage daughters being Bridget and Kerry. Also, I read it with John's voice in mind (as if he had written it). That's where I got the idea for that finale plot.
Ireneparalegal 01-25-2006, 07:25 PM If John were still alive, THERE WOULDN'T BE A FINALE, because the show would still be on and live on and on and on.:(

I figure it would still be on today. I just mean whenever the finale would be.
Just think of all the plots we missed out on. I'd love to have seen Paul at Bridget (or Kerry's) wedding in one of the later season's episodes. Him walking her down the aisle would have been great.
JackTripper258 01-25-2006, 09:20 PM that would be a REALLY good plot. i need to go get that book. where did you find it? yes, it is sad that he's gone and i think the show would have ran on and on and on.

Maybe Kyle could have gotten married in!

awww i know...i think it would still be on if ABC carried the show on the rest of the original cast and grandpa jim instead of giving major major plots to david spades character
An 80s Guy 01-26-2006, 11:06 PM well mabey it wouldn't have ended so soon but it would eventually have to have a series finale and that would've been a good one
Mrs. John Ritter 01-28-2006, 09:59 PM That would have been a really cool way to do the show. It is such a shame that they couldn't do it like that. Yeah where did you get the book. I would really like to get a copy of it.
Adamantium 01-28-2006, 10:05 PM I bought it at the book section at Kroger (where I work) last year. I'm sure most book stores would have it. If not, you can always check at Amazon or some other place. I'm not sure if the new copies being made would still have John, Kaley and Amy on the cover, but they would be the same book inside.

I think focusing on David Spade's character to much ruined the show. That plus moving it to Friday.
dave insinga 01-29-2006, 01:43 AM that would have been a great finale the show was not the same without his character however i don't blame spades character(cj) or garners character(Granmps) you can't replace john ritter even if they did the darren thing from bewiched no one could accept anyone or any substitution for john ritter.thats just the way it is.
