View Full Version : Jessica Keen Case (8-2-01)
jaime9983 01-25-2006, 02:37 AM My sister Jessica keen was killed in march of 1991, and her story aired on aug 2 of 2001. But, I was young, and didnt watch it or really know about it. I would love to see a copy of it. If anyone remembers her case, has a copy of it or just knows any details about it I would appreciate your help.
Just a little background: She was killed in a cemetary at age 15 after being raped. This case is still unsolved, but it is being reinvestigated right now.
Thanks:confused:
jaime9983 01-25-2006, 12:15 PM Please, if anyone can just even remember the show, it happened in columbus, ohio.
newmanator80 01-25-2006, 12:31 PM I remember that case very well. I wish they could solve that case. I have a copy of the episode. I could send you a copy on DVD free of charge. You can email me at newmanator802000@yahoo.com.
crystaldawn 01-25-2006, 01:38 PM Hi Jaime! I am sorry about your sister. I just wanted you to prepare yourself as the UM segment is a very disturbing one.....probably one of the most upsetting segments they've done. I'm sure you know far better than us what she endured that night but just wanted to warn you. I found it hard to watch and I didn't even know Jessica I can only imagine how upsetting it would be viewed by someone who loved her. Just my two cents.....take care.
jaime9983 01-25-2006, 04:19 PM Well, I know that it will be upsetting, I know all of the details, however, I feel a little detached from the whole thing because I was only 7 when it happened. I can barely remember her, but I know we were close, I have pictures and letters and stories. I guess thats all any of us have in the end.
The good news is that another murder that took place around the same time was solved this week, and the detectives are reinvestigating. We are praying. Thank you so much for you help.
LooksLikeCRicci 01-26-2006, 12:43 AM I agree with you, Crystaldawn... it was a pretty creepy and disturbing episode.
I'm so sorry for your loss, Jaime. I hope that Jessica's murderer is found and brought to justice.
Lyndi48 01-26-2006, 12:45 AM Just be prepared because it is fairly graphic and disturbing.
Awsi Dooger 01-26-2006, 01:35 AM Jaime, let me just echo what others have indicated. That was one of the most memorable and disturbing segments in UM history, and particularly over the final years of the program. I remember a thread here asking which segment gave you the creeps, and I nominated that segment first and foremost. The promos of UM the week before the show aired mentioned a young girl running for her life in a cemetery, so that really got to me.
Jessica showed great courage in fleeing her captors, hiding in the cemetery and running toward the home in the distance. It's great you still have the pictures and letters. I hope the other members of your family reinforce how close the two of you were through stories and anecdotes.
Jaime, one question. There was speculation Jessica's boyfriend was a suspect. Does the recent murder that was solved involve him at all?
Awsi Dooger 01-26-2006, 02:28 AM I checked the Columbus online media and found the solved murder case that Jaime referred to. The suspect is named Jonathan Gravely, with DNA matching a '94 murder that investigators long believed may be connected to the '91 Jessica Keen murder, apparently due to similarities in the assaults. DNA does not match the Keen case.

jaime9983 01-26-2006, 01:36 PM although our family still suspects the boyfriend, dna has supposedly ruled him out. I beleive that he was involved, but maybe did not act alone, possibly other dna was there just not his even though he was there.

Far Off Promise 02-09-2014, 07:41 PM I am glad that the case is solved and very sorry for the family's loss.
I watched this case last night before reading this thread. UM didn't mention the tombstone being used as a weapon and broken in two. That's an interesting detail, although it wouldn't help much in finding the killer. It does provide the murder weapon, however.
What I've always wondered about is this: If she had made it over the fence, was there anyone in the farmhouse that could have helped? Would it have been a safe place?
