what i want to know is, before they even consider that kind of scene (with an obese person) do they ask the actor/actress first, so that they don't hurt their feelings? or do the producers/writers have the right to do that?

i will be honest, it was funny, and I still find it funny when I see it.

funny, that's how i saw Willona, it is hard to see her be a mother after seeing her be a 'single woman' for so long.

Well, the show was weight jokes galore, but I'm sure the actors knew what they were getting into when they auditioned for the show.
They had to know too that people were laughing at them and not with them.

Even though she mostly came off as the typical Christian-abiding, divorced mother with the will to deliver a belt to one's hide, Mabel Thomas did happen to have some attention from the male set...
Although, of course, not as much as some of the other female actors or whatever...but hey, Mabel did generate SOME attention from the male set!
