Ok, I was flipping channels & I came across what I thought was 227 but the open show had Jackee & a list of other names of people I don't know. I never knew they had a spin-off featuring her. I guess this show didn't do well since this is the first time I'm hearing about it!

Jackee had left 227 after the fourth season (1988-89). She only appeared in like the first six episodes of the final season and she supposedly was supposed to get her own spin-off series. However, the pilot still has remained for all these years in the 227 package.

I thought it was something unusual about the closing credits of 227 at 5:28pm-lol I kept asking myself-"Is that 227?

This was the rejected pilot "Jackee",which was about Sandra living in New York and working at a health club. This pilot aired during the last few weeks of the 4th season of 227(probably episode 23).
TV One aired "Jackee" unedited with the original credits, but I think that in the edited syndication episodes,it has the 227 credits.
Jackee returned to 227 in the 5th season with a "special guest star" credit in the opening and she only appeared in 8 or 9 episodes.

I remember seeing it when it first aired. I didn't care for it to much, so I can see why it wasn't picked up. I haven't seen it in a long time and I missed it again last night. So I didn't get to see the original opening :(

I taped that ep when it first debuted back in March 1989. It aired after the Cosby Show on Thursday Night. Desafortunadamente, I think I threw out the tape. I was upset over that! LOL. Anyways, TV One aired the "Jackee" credits and theme opening? Wow! I must find someone with TV One to tape it for me.

BET also aired the Jackee pilot during the cycle of 227 episodes when they aired 227 from 1997-99. I remember watching it one evening but I never got to tape it.

You need to understand that I was young when the situation happened. You cannot be anymore angry than I was.

As much as I loved the character of Sandra Clark, this show was sooo:rolleyes: :( stupid. Boring concept, Jackee's ego was just too da*n big. She must have thought that people would watch her in anything(have anyone seen her T.V movie in which she plays identical twins, one was an agent and the other was a waitress? it premiered in '89 and can be shown from time to time on tvone long story short, that sucked major a*s)

I have A Ebony magazine where she did an interview about how depressed she got when she was on 227. Also in another interview she did she said that she regreted going off and doing Jackee because of her ego and she saw how much Marla meant to her.

Aww!!!!!:( Wow, I didn't know she was depressed, mmaybe that's why she broke down in tears on one episode of Celebrity Fit Club. I was taken aback, I couldn't believe that she was breaking down like that. I felt bad for her...

I got love for her but her ego was just too much.

Her best perfomance(besides Sandra Clark of course!) is The Women of Brewster Place. I strongly suggest you all check it out. It premiered in 1989 to huge ratings(Paul Winfred a.ka. Julian C. Barlow is in there along with Oprah, Lonette McKee, Robin 'golddigger' Givens, and Lynn Whitfield is also in there including they guy who played Brandy's father on Moesha)

Her and Tim Reid were the funniest on the show. I couldn't really get into the show, Tia and Tamera were too corny and too fake for me especially when someone put the idea in their heads that they weren't black enough so they totally changed into fake ghetto girls.

1980 something it has a pic of her shopping in it. I have one about The Cosby Show also. My aunt gave me all of her Ebony and Essence Mags she had most are of the 80's and early 90's.

Yes, Jackee's ego was too big. She had an excellent role on 227. She stated once that the cast of 227 was too big and she wanted more air time.

Given that her character made excellent entrances and exits we didn't need to see her for 20 minutes during the show.

I remember 'Double your Trouble' with Jackee---and enjoyed this movie.

Basically, the commentator's logic or rationale was that while Jackée during the peak of 227, had a huge following within the black community, the general public more than likely didn't know who she was. In effect, Jackée was a victim if you want to call that, of "pop-culture isolation" (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PopCultureIsolation).

The classic '80s sitcom "227" launched the careers of Jackée Harry and Regina King. It also almost launched a spin-off for Jackée's character Sandra. Find out why the spin-off never happened on Behind the Backdoor Pilot: 227.
