3 years ago it was January 2003. It was the start of the worst year of my life. So many people were taken from me that year. So many bad things happened that year. I don't want to remember them.

Let's see...Mr. Rogers, Uncle Ed, Loretta, Jack Tripper, aside from the many others who passed that year. However, it all started with one lady...Nell Carter. She was the best. January 23rd, 2003, if I remember correctly, I came back to my dorm and checked my e-mail. "Sad News" and Eric had posted to everyone that Nell had passed.

It's been 3 years, and I have come a long way. 2003 I was challenged with weight loss, gained more to 300, then lost to 250, and by the end of 2003, both of my grandmothers passed away that I stopped my weight loss and gaiend 20, only to have 2004 be a strenous year of weight loss. I said to myself "If Nell did it, I sure as hell can as well" and in 2004 I dropped to 150 pounds.

Nell, you will always be remembered. You will live on with Gimme A Break! DVDs. All 6 seasons will be released, I am sure, because you helped others become celebs, like Joey Lawrence, Matthew, and Rosie. You were the best. We all miss you.

It's a shame drug addiction controlled Nell's life for so long. Once she finally kicked the addiction, the effects had already taken their toll on Nell's body. She was immensely talented and I think (sadly) a lot of doors where closed on her because of her weight.

Congrats on your weight loss...I used to weight 240 and I lost 105 pounds back in 2003. I still weigh about 130 and it's always a challenge not to gain it back.

Nell did not die due to drugs.
It was complications due to her diabetes.
Doors were never closed to her due to her weight.

Nell was one of the most incredible forces life knew, she had many issues yes but she overcame them...Our entire home was in shock the day she left and we are grateful that we can now start holding on to more of her works to share her laughter, and love daily when the need for a superb singing voice or the comedic ability to laugh with her or the seriousness of tackling issues are needed, THANK YOU UNIVERSAL we appreciate you letting us be with our Nell :)
