buttttt a few years ago i watched some of thier reruns and i must say i wasnt impressed at all.....lots of corny jokes....i was just surprised like wow this was 1 of my fav tv shows when i was 12-16 now its just like ehhh not interested....anybody agree with me? im sure there's still some episodes left where i;ll be laughing my ass off but not enough for me to buy a season
MarshallMathers 03-15-2006, 05:33 AM It was actually kinda the opposite for me. I couldn't stand the show when I was younger even though I never even watched an episode(it was on fox then) but I loved it when I got older (on TBS). I know what you mean about the corny jokes thought but the show just has something special about it to me.
Buffyboy323 03-15-2006, 11:12 AM I've loved SBTB since I was about 5 years old. I got sick of it sometime mid-2004, and didn't watch it anymore. I started buying all the DVD's in 2005, and must say, I still love all the episodes as I did growing up. Saved By The Bell is a classic, In my book. I love it! and I hate that I stopped watching it....And as far as those "corny jokes", that's why I love it so much. The show is so old and corny. It's pure Cheesey!!! And I can't get over all their clothes. The outfits are so "Rad."

Exactly!! But of course, you and I agree on so many things, anyway. ;)
Yeah, here's how I see it. Most people who loved this show as a kid regard it as a CLASSIC, and even now still see it that way, like I do. Anyone who didn't watch it as a kid though and was either too old for it or just didn't get into it would probably try to see it as an adult and think "OMG WTF?!"
That's what I think. It's so charming to me now how it's so cheesy.
Adamantium 03-15-2006, 05:39 PM One scene I didn't like as a kid that I still don't like now is the scene where Lisa is a waitress at the Max. And to get more tips, the gang rush around the place taking everyone's food away. Then it cuts to Jesse saying they made 36 dollars in tips.
As for the show in general, I loved it when it was new. Then I watched it too much and by the time I was in, say my senior year (1999-2000) I couldn't stand to watch any episode at all. However, I bought the DVDs and sort of got back into it.
However, these days I prefer “The New Class.” Although I know it will never be as classic as the original. I just enjoy watching it.
CaptainCharisma 03-15-2006, 06:43 PM It's one of those shows where you had to "be there" to truly appreciate it. I mean, the show began in 1989 (give or take). That's a long time ago (17 years!). Society changes. I'm sure we all wish we were back in that time period, while some of the younger people nowadays are probably thinking "what's the big deal?" when watching reruns of the show now.
One aspect about the show I thought was hilarious (due to its stupidity) was some of the last names. All the "geeks" would have the word "geek" or some variation of it as their last name. "Mr. Pointdexter", "Max Nerdstrom", "Ronald Geekman", and so on. I remember in one episode (the nurse one), Zack wanted Screech to hook Kelly up with a nerd, and Screech said he knew a guy on his chess team named "Melvin Nerdley". When Zack heard that name, he smiled and automatically assumed Melvin was a dork. It was so assinine that it was humorous.
It's a fun show to look back on. Much like Happy Days, all the ABC sitcoms from the late '80's/early '90's, Wonder Years, Brady Bunch, and so on. However, it's about as unrealistic a depiction of high school as you'll find. The Wonder Years was great in that aspect.
PrettyinPink55 03-15-2006, 11:52 PM SBTB is and will always remain a classic in my book! I love this show!!! I don't think it could ever get old for me!
barb1686 03-18-2006, 12:03 PM Like someone else said, you have to grow-up with it but ontop of that you have to love it too. I've always been a huge fan and that will probably never change. You've got to let yourself be a kid with this show and you can't be embarrassed either. Most people watch this show in private haha ...cause they're afraid their friends will make fun of them...but the truth is, pretty much anyone who grew up the same time as you probably loves it in private too. ...Just don't take the show seriously and you'll love it. If you let yourself be an adult with the show then you probably will hate it, but if you go back to who you were as that little kid in front of the tv you will love it like you always have. Try to think to yourself why you originally loved it...;)
TVFactFan 03-18-2006, 12:30 PM I stopped watching this show when Zack let Screech rip his shirt in front of everyone in the hallway
