American Dreams, which followed the fortunes of two families through the turbulent 1960s, ended with a cliffhanger: teenage daughter Meg running off to Berkeley with an antiwar radical. A wrap-up episode in which Meg is rescued by her brother was shot, but Reilly said the cost of rights to the rock 'n' roll records featured on the Dreams soundtrack would have cost hundreds of thousands of dollars that NBC is unwilling to pay. The network toyed with the idea of releasing the episode on the Internet or selling it through a music download site, but couldn't make the numbers work.

Told by one critic that NBC boss (and Miami native) Jeff Zucker had ''sworn on his immortal soul'' that the episode would air, Reilly shrugged: ``Another pact with the devil for Zucker.''

Today, I read a small thing on Brittany Snow in my local Newspaper (The NY Daily News/USA Weekend)....She said to all the "American Dreams" fans, that the alternate Finale, in which Meg reunites with the family, will be available on the last season DVD as a bonus feature.....When I read this I flipped out. I'm not sure if Brittany knows what she's talking about...Did they all of a sudden decide to release the 2nd and 3rd seasons?
