View Full Version : Dee and Dwayne
msladysoul 01-21-2006, 03:10 PM :loveya: I remember watching an interview with Haywood Nelson and I recall him saying he had a crush on Dee and said he don't know why he didn't marry her but wanted to.
Now that I watch Dee and Dwayne in the Third Season, I see some eye exchanges and flirty looks. Dee didn't look 14, she looked like she could be one of Dwayne's girls. Dee developed quickly, one season Dee was a cute little girl, than the next season she looked like a woman and very voluptuous. In a few episodes I saw Dwayne checking her out because he's that kind that is so obvious and in some episodes whenever Dee and Dwayne get around one another they start smiling and giggling forgetting their on a tv show.
It would have been interesting to watch those two had a little fling on What's Happening. But I guess it would have been awkard for some, since Dee was looked at as a child but both were still in high school so why not date Raj's little sister. I guess that would of been too much for that show. What do you all think?
Erica H 01-21-2006, 05:46 PM Remember, they did actually go together for an episode on "What's Happening Now!!".

Who is Haywood Nelson married to anyways?
msladysoul 01-21-2006, 06:07 PM I wish I knew who he was married to, if he is, I hate whoever he is married to though and I'll have to stop watching him. :D

LOL -- btw welcome to our forums!!!
Brieannas21 01-21-2006, 07:11 PM Is Haywood even married?? I've only seen him in a few interviews but I've never paid attention to his hands. I've never noticed anything between Dwanye and Dee, I don't know what episodes you all are talking about, but I've never seen it. Dee always looks as if she doesn't want to be there or not interested to me LOL. But I don't mind my husband looking at other women as long as he doesn't look to long and never touch ;)
msladysoul 01-22-2006, 05:08 AM Thanks Irene, I been reading some of your post and your a funny lady and I hope to post and share laughs together.
I notice some exchange of glances towards the end of the show, the last few episodes.
TVFactFan 01-22-2006, 02:55 PM dwayne was too goofy for Dee on WH

I'm SO glad someone else noticed this about Dee and Dwayne...
Anyhow, as I've always said, the little bit of "flirtation" and mutual ogling began between those cool two back during the latter part of Season 2 and into Season 3. If you own the whole WH series on DVD (like I sure do), and take a closer look at the seasons I'm referring to, you'll see what I'm talking about.
Dee was almost always paying Dwayne some serious attention--- although of course, not as much as when they did the date thing on WHN.
She was also built up very nicely, during the latter part of Season 2 and throughout Season 3...so, why NOT notice her??? LOL ;)
Dee and Dwayne each ROCK!
:p
Brieannas21 01-23-2006, 11:24 PM Well can someone give me some episode titles in which this flirting was going on,beacuse I ain't seeing it. I have What's Happening on DVD and I just don't see it. So could some name some episodes that I can watch and see all this flirtation that others are seeing.
CindyRoxiesLair2006 01-24-2006, 08:26 PM I haven't wanted to say this, but...here goes...
Believe it or not, I know a whole bunch about each of the following actors from the WH/WHN shows, due to a couple of opportunities I've had in meeting & getting to know them:
Danielle Spencer, Haywood Nelson and Fred Berry (when he was alive).
Thanks to my older brother, who manages a limo firm out in the San Francisco area, through visiting with him on a frequent basis during the early part of 2001 (Fred Berry and Haywood Nelson) and in 2004 (Danielle/Dee Spencer), respectively, I was able to meet them...and I gathered a bunch of cool information about each person that I KNOW no one else is aware of!
But hey, I OWN the information; I can't share it with just ANYBODY...
Anyways, it was fun meeting each person when we did...
My brother and sister-in-law knew Fred Berry/Rerun, and they also know Haywood and Danielle personally.
Brieannas21 01-24-2006, 11:18 PM Can someone give me some episode titles where Dee and Dwayne are flirting with each other.
TVFactFan 01-24-2006, 11:23 PM Can someone give me some episode titles where Dee and Dwayne are flirting with each other.
I don't think she meant Dee and Dwayne, I think she meant Danielle and Haywood
Brieannas21 01-24-2006, 11:24 PM I don't think she meant Dee and Dwayne, I think she meant Danielle and Haywood
I know and I still don't see it.
msladysoul 01-25-2006, 02:44 AM Well, maybe I got a keen eye or something. I been a fan of the show since a little girl so after watching after so many years, I notice things like that, I notice exchange of glances and so on and ever since I heard Haywood actually did like her, that really made it crystal clear.
Brieannas21 01-25-2006, 03:44 PM When did these things happen?
CindyRoxiesLair2006 01-25-2006, 08:12 PM When did these things happen?
Since you're asking so much about it, dear, here are the episodes we are referring to (mainly we see it in the 3rd Season!):
Season 2, last episode "The Apartment": while Raj is repeating his valedictorian speech to Mama and everyone else, Dee sits on the arm of the couch next to Dwayne, and gives him a really flirtatious grin. Dwayne acknowledges it and grins back. :talk:
Season 3, episode 1 "Disco Dollar Disaster": Dee smoothly gets Dwayne to dance with her at the disco club, before Rerun's dance competition begins.
Season 3, episode "Dwayne's Debate": all through the show basically, when Dwayne is preparing his debate speech, Dee is right there saying, "Go, Dwayne, GO!" and she's giving him all sorts of interested ogles! You have to catch 'em, though...
No wonder Dwayne had to take several sips of water in between practices! (Not necessarily anxiety due to the forthcoming debate, either!) :p
Season 3, episode "First Class Coach": after Dee's pie is served to the guys (including Little & Big Earl), Dwayne comes over to the side and assists Dee in getting Little Earl some milk from the fridge. During that, we briefly see Dee and Dwayne giving each other all sorts of "nice little attention", and they're conversing rather closely.
Season 3, "The Last Page": after the break portion, while the security guard is informing Rerun about him/his group needing to leave the dressing room, Dee and Dwayne play this "cross-the-way" peekaboo-style game with each other.
As Dwayne stands over on the other side of the dressing room itself, within view, he exchanges a playful & mutual ogling game with Dee---who is seated on the table (in a rather suggestive way) behind where Rerun stands, talking to the guard. She grins and giggles at Dwayne as they duck & dodge playfully...
Season 3, last episode "The Benefit Show": where everyone is at the soda shop, awaiting Rerun's return from his "visit" to see Sammy Davis, Jr.
At the soda shop, while she sits in between Raj and Dwayne, Dee shows her stuff (in a fun "sitting dance" mode) and Dwayne really gives her the double-O!! ;)
Anyhow, these are the episodes where we see the "flirtatiousness" between the characters in question. In real life, of course, it was obvious that Haywood had it for Danielle (this is one of the "informational things" that I, personally, found out when I met them a few years ago through my brother).
Whether or not you see it in these particular episodes of WH, that's up to you.
In any case, it's so fun to learn about and discuss, given the little bit of age gap in between Dee and Dwayne!

Thank You, they seem like minor glances, but I'll go back and look this weekend.
msladysoul 01-26-2006, 02:25 AM Your right Cindy, those are exactly the same episodes I notice the glances.
CindyRoxiesLair2006 01-26-2006, 07:50 PM First off, thanks much for the backup, MsLadySoul/Alicia... it's such fun going back through those particular episodes and noticing Dee & Dwayne "go at it" in an ogling flirt sense with each other!!! It's so cool!
And have fun looking for reference, Briennas...there are some more episodes in the middle-to-latter portion of Season 2 that I failed to mention also, but they'll keep until further notice. LOL ;) :happyface
To be so young, Briennas, you sure do express a good, healthy interest in WH and WHN! COOL...
Anyways, ladies and gents...
While we're on the subject of Dee and Dwayne, I remember when I met & got to know each Danielle and Haywood in real life, they each told me about their crushes on the other. Haywood had it kinda bad for Danielle, and Danielle liked him a lot more. They even saw each other when she was in college and they were on WHN.
But nowadays, Danielle/Dee has Garry Fields on her side (hubby) and Haywood...well, I'm not too sure. He wasn't married at the time I met him through my brother (back in mid-2001), that's all I can say...LOL
They're each cool people, fer shure...
bansogirl 01-28-2006, 10:28 PM I haven't wanted to say this, but...here goes...

And what do I have to do in order to acquire that information? :bighug:
CindyRoxiesLair2006 01-28-2006, 11:04 PM Well, one suggestion from me to you, Bansogirl (and everyone else who would like to know SOME of what I know), is: Be as nice as MsLadySoul and Ireneparalegal are & have been to me. ;)
I'm sure you're cool, though. :happyface
Incidentally, I already "gave away" some of what I found out from Danielle and Haywood, concerning how they really felt about each other in real life.
It's right below your post, Banosgirl...LOL
Have fun...
 :happyface
msladysoul 01-29-2006, 11:14 AM Awww, well Cindy, your easy to be nice to even if we both weren't fans of the show, you still would be cool to chat with and discuss different things.
CindyRoxiesLair2006 01-29-2006, 01:28 PM Awww, well Cindy, your easy to be nice to even if we both weren't fans of the show, you still would be cool to chat with and discuss different things.
Awww, how sweet of you, MsLadySoul...thanx much!!! :happyface
Oh yeah...I noticed YET another place in "The Apartment" episode of late-Season 2, in which there is some obvious smiting action with Dee and Dwayne. And here it is:
Based also on what Danielle told me personally, almost two years ago concerning this part in the episode...
After Raj reveals to Mama and everyone that he decided to have "his very own aputment" (LOL  ), then Mama asks him whether or not he's looked at the place, and Rerun says to Mama, "You'll love it, Mrs. Thomas; it's great!", they show the Thomases near the fireplace.
As Dee stands in between Mama and Raj, she cracks up laughing (not aloud, though) and continuously grins with that "internal blush", per say.
Do you know why this happened? Well...
According to Danielle, she was laughing b/c Dwayne was lusciously licking his lips at her, and gave her a nice little wink.
I am dead serious on this one!
Something else, eh??? You just GO, lady!!!;)
 :p
msladysoul 01-29-2006, 02:32 PM There's two episodes I remember glances. In that episode where Dwayne takes over coaching for Big Earl. Right in the beginning of the episode where Dee is serving pie, she kind of walks by Dwayne and he stares at her. When Little Earl is sitting at the table ready to eat Dee's Pie, Dwayne and Dee are having a little chat and exchanges glances.
In "The Last Page," it the Happy Days part, when Dee asks Raj for $5 dollars and Rerun tells her to sit on it, as Dee is walking back, Dwayne gives her another look.
It seem Dwayne always gives Dee a stare...loong stares. I wish I was Dee/Danielle.;)
But like I said, during the last 3rd season, you notice them two giving each other goo goo eyes as Danielle is maturer and attractive, naturally Haywood would notice her since their in the same age group.
CindyRoxiesLair2006 01-29-2006, 08:38 PM Yeah, just as I was mentioning! LOL :happyface
Anyways, though, it just goes to show you how much care the show editors took in putting out the final product, per say, as far as the episodes were concerned.
They obviously weren't noticing the OBVIOUS!!! LOL
:p  :happyface
msladysoul 01-30-2006, 03:55 AM I remember I was reading about The Brady Bunch and when Maureen who played Marcia and Barry who played Greg, the two oldest, would be flirting when they got in the mid-teens, the people behind the scenes would catch it quick, cut it out and reshoot and let them know, "Hey, your sister and brothers not lovers, act like it." Because the Brady Bunch crew noticed the staring into each other's eyes deeply, sitting too close, smiling too big. That would definitely ruin the show. There's a lot of things in What's Happening that should of been edited, I notice little mistakes and such.
CindyRoxiesLair2006 01-30-2006, 10:37 AM There's a lot of things in What's Happening that should of been edited, I notice little mistakes and such.
Yeah, MsLadySoul, I know exactly what ya mean, by "little mistakes and such".
For INSTANCE...
In WH Season 1, Episode 3, "When Daddy Comes Marching Home", after Dee hangs up the phone with the bold statement, "OH YEAH? Well, your MAMA...", we see a gap/opening in the front of Mama's blue dress.
Luckily, Mabel had her slip/underwear on! :happyface
And even though it wasn't technically a mishap or whatever, in the very second episode of WH, "The Birthday Present", when Raj and everyone is in the soda shop, the outside window signs say "Robert's Place". And you can tell where it was covering up something, with the banner-styling.
