View Full Version : Problems with a trader.
BoutyBouty101 01-21-2006, 12:41 PM I am having a problem with a trader and I could use some opinions, I sent darkmanj26104 about 40 discs nearly 6 months ago (Including a set that I couldn't copy, and the blanks so he could copy it and send it back with my discs. I have traded with him before and never had any problems. Shortlly after I sent the DVDs he told me about some problems he was having with his computer and assured me that he would send the DVDs after his compuiter was fixed. I had been talking to him thru e-mail pretty regulaly for about 4 or 5 months and shortly before x-mas he finally said that he sent the DVDs out, 40 discs plus my set that I sent him. The only thing is that he sent them media with no insurance like a week before christmas. Needless to say the were "lost".
Long story short, when I asked if/when he could send the replacements I was told:
"I know your going to be mad, but Ive thought about this and even talked
to a few people from a couple tape trading site and only one of them thinks
I should have to replace them."
My question is do you think they should be replaced? Yes or No? Your opinion is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Lamont 01-21-2006, 01:11 PM i have never traded with him before But YES!
he needs to replace them
99% of time LOST IN THE MAIL means DIDNT SEND THEM!
i have had a few packages get lost before
VERY FEW
only like 2 in the us and a few to canada BUT most of those turned up late, misrouted or such
BUT if he didnt bother to use a delivery confirmation # on the box he needs to resolve it
PLUS if u waited 6 months to start with THAT IS A BAD SIGN RIGHT THERE!
anyone else??? agree???
lazygrae 01-21-2006, 01:19 PM Absolutely. Especially the set you were kind enough to loan him.
talked to a few people from a couple tape trading site and only one of them thinks I should have to replace them."
That is absolutely ridiculous. So much so that I don't even believe it. Unless there's a new site called the Scammers Tape Trading Site.
konnann1996 01-21-2006, 01:37 PM yeah he does need to replace them. I have had a few packages lost in the mail, 3 to be exact, but they were no more than 5 discs. It's his responsibility to send you the discs that he owes you. Whatever form he's on post a dispute, you may not get your discs back but you will probably get him banned from the forum

savageamusement 01-21-2006, 02:49 PM In my life, it has been taught to me, whatever I have been graced to borrow-
Wether it be a dress, or a plate.
You take responsibility for it.
If you go to Blockbuster, and rent a movie
And lost it, guess what - they charge you.
Yes your paying to borrow it, but you are responsible for it once you walk out the door
If you to your public library and borrow a book
And lose it
They charge you for it.
Simply said.
Borrowing, means returning. If you can't return, you should replace.
Delivery conf is 55 cents, 1.05 for signiture.
1.10 for insurance.
I think the obligation to borrow, comes with the expectation to be responsible.
BoutyBouty101 01-21-2006, 03:01 PM Thanks to all who replied.
I have traded with him before and so have many others right here on Sitcoms Online. As far as I know he has nothing but positive feedback. So I do beleive that they were lost and that he just doesn't want to replace them. So nobody gets the wrong idea, he did offer to give me a couple sets for the one that I lent him. I just hope that I can show him this post and he will realize that it is his responsibitlity as a trader to send the replacements for everything that was lost.
Thanks Again
Lamont 01-21-2006, 03:04 PM Maybe Darkman should post his side of it, because it looks bad
A few questions, 1. why would he NOT use delv conf #? i mean i use it on EVERY PACKAGE even on media mail, b/c how else do u know where it is?
2. why would he NOT replace them and instead ask his buddies what they think? i mean if that happens and in the very rare instance when a package I send gets lost, i just replace it,
3. if he was borrowing something - wouldnt it make sense that he would be extra careful in returning it?
4. why did it take 6 months? for such a small trade???
questions that i think he should answer-- to resolve this and make sure it doesnt go any further :p
Lamont 01-21-2006, 03:07 PM u did a few trades with someone, DOES NOT MEAN they will always stay true
i have NOT dealt with him, so i dont know----i try to give people the benefit of the doubt--- and i do know that he has some GOOD TRADER POSTS to his name
MY SITUATION----
THE 2 WORST SCAMS I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH came from 2 so called "Good Traders" who I did trades with before, THEN THEY TOTALLY RIPPED ME OFF and made no excuses about it, just flat out lied and then stopped responding
BAD BAD BAD
ive never dealt with him, so i cannot say personally BUT it looks bad from what u r saying
IF THEY WERE LEGITIMATELY lost in the mail (it does happen on occasion) then it is 100% his place to resolve it
BoutyBouty101 01-21-2006, 03:33 PM I have emailed him a link to this forum. Maybe he will reply here...
Michael Randazzo 01-21-2006, 04:20 PM Yes, he should replace them. Also could you get the names of the people he talked to, who think he should not replace them, so I know not to trade with them either. Thanks and God Bless
Michael
Lamont 01-21-2006, 04:31 PM Its always better to replace the discs and make it right
then to risk a bad reputation
for instance i have never traded with him
BUT i would be real hesitant to do so now that i have heard this
loren 01-21-2006, 04:35 PM my theory
i just made a 22 disc swap with a person for the first time
im 99.99% sure i sent the 22 discs the very day we agreed on the deal
but it been a while and he hasnt received it
he asked if i did the dc, and of course i do
but so what if i did
hes still out the 22 discs and it makes me look kinda shabby that i could get a simple package to a person
so instead of looking through a ton of dc slips, ill just drop another 22 discs in the mail on monday
no big deal
things like this make a lasting impression on the other person
maybe the next time he emails me about the set i really want
its not always whos correct with the dc slip, im not going to ignore a person for $7 worth of discs and wave a del con slip in his face
theres a huge difference between being right, and doing the right thing
once again, i may have messed the address up on the package as well, who knows??
darkmanj26104 01-21-2006, 05:05 PM I tell you what. It would do no good to tell my side of it. It still looks bad. You all can list me as a bad trader or whatever. Thats fine. I shouldve got delivery confirmation on his package. I regret not doing it now. Im going to send the shows I owe him and same goes for the other guy emailing me such colorful emails. Im going to need a little time and they will be sent out again. With delivery confirmation. You know I been as honest as I can and if you all dont believe me, that's of course your choice. I have had so many good trades and I hate to see all this happen from one bad trade. And as for Lamont, I appreciate being called a liar. ALOT of crap happened and I emailed him telling him about all of it as he stated. I like the guy and I wouldnt screw him over. I hope he knows that. Truth be told, its not that I didnt want to replace his sets, its because I didnt have the time at the moment and I hate telling him over and over that itll be longer. Im sure he believed me but you start to doubt when you keep hearing excuses. Either way give me a week/week and a half and Ill send your stuff out and then if you agree everythings good...cool. If not ban me or whatever. Ive been a good trader and even though I send the stuff there will still be all this negative crap about me so even getting someone to trade with me will be hard. I personally dont think thats right either at least until you are sure Im a bad trader. But to each his own and thats what you all felt to be the right thing obviously. Anyway thats my comment. I hope we can all resolve this before it goes even further. Thanks. Jim
Lamont 01-21-2006, 05:15 PM I wasnt calling you a liar, just stating that it looked bad. I have never traded with you and i have no problem or issue with you. Things do sometimes get lost in the mail--- i have had it happen to me a few times (a couple of times receiving stuff, i couple sending stuff) but more often than not, scammers claim it was lost in the mail when it was never sent. I dont think anyone here is not aware of that.
My only concerns were that 1. it took so many months and 2. u had apparently stated that you were not responsible to replace them--maybe there was some miscommunication between the 2 of you, or maybe it was just misunderstood by me reading the post
and THAT was the biggest red flag. Again, i do not think ive ever traded with Darkman.... BUT bouty did ask for us to give our opinions on a messy situation.
That is why it is always best to try to resolve things DIRECT between the 2 parties, so that dirty laundry isnt aired in public. Im glad you 2 worked it out, and again.... I didnt mean to call u a liar and i do apologize if it came off that way.
Lamont 01-21-2006, 05:19 PM i think the only time darkman and i had communicated was about wolf111 and being owed stuff that never arrived
so maybe it was a misunderstanding, i dont know, he and i have a clean slate
im glad its worked out
most issues can be resolved if the 2 people just communicate
;)
BoutyBouty101 01-21-2006, 06:21 PM OK. I think ths matter has been completely worked out. Thanks again for the help. I just want to make sure that everyone knows that darkmanj26104 has only positive feedback, and I don't want people to think this is negative.
Thanks
