Why do you peoples like the show?

Because it's a good show. I can relate to Kevin may be one reason. It's one of the best shows made in the 80's. Heck, it won an Emmy! Try watching some more episodes. You might start to like it. Maybe not though but it's worth a shot. It's a really great show and I'd recommend it to anyone. Then again, that's just me. Well, that's my 2 cents.

I never, ever saa.d that I liked this show. I thought that the first few seasons were clever, but other then that the series was a bore.

I like the show because, even though it was made in the late 1980s and early 1990s, it was about what happened 20 years previous to the (then) present. Such makes a television show great IMHO.

I cannot understand, however, why they took it off the air after only six (five and a half, technically) seasons without giving it a chance to reach #1 in the Nielsens. I would have liked to see Kevin go through life until at least 1983 (which would be filmed two years later from now), extending the series for ten more seasons. There were some very interesting news stories and some awesome music from 1974-83 which would give the series a ratings boost IMHO. The news and music made the series very watchable.

As for Fred Savage's other show, "Working", I never cared for that show because it took place in the 1990s and *not* 20 years previous like TWY did.

The first season of 'Working' had me rolling around on the floor! Hilarious. The second was not as good but it was still pretty funny. Savage was perfect for both roles.

I L O V E this show for several reasons.

1) The stories, which were always amusing and at the same time rather touching, were I N C R E D I B L Y well-written. I love TV shows, movies, etc. that can make me laugh and nearly cry simultaneously.
2) The characters were wonderful -- people I'd like to have as friends and would want to have in my home every week.
3) The amazing narrative was so beautifully and brilliantly worded.
4) The music of the period was used so expertly, and gave the whole thing such a tremendous nostalgic feel.


Anyone who didn't like, or hated, this show needs to make an appointment to see their doctor IMMEDIATELY IF NOT SOONER to find out if there is, in fact, a heart inside their chest!!!!!!!!

It's no surprise that "The Wonder Years" did not do better in the ratings than it did. After all, it was, quite simply, too good for American television and its audience, so much of which are ignorant, thoughtless, unfeeling, insensitive so-called people. An intelligent, well-written show with a lot of heart could never appeal to individuals who want to see Al Bundy and his family chase their dog around the house because his bone has a speck of meat on it!

I think we all -- no matter our age or sex -- remember fondly certain things about growing up -- first love, first kiss, favorite teachers, etc. I also can recall the struggle of trying to call a girl on the telephone and imagining the worst results, an agony so wonderfully and cleverly illustrated in an early "Wonder Years" episode.

We can *all* relate to this show, I think. But, myself being just about Kevin's age, this show was even more of a trip down Memory Lane for me. I remember so many of the world events that were touched on during this series -- the arrival of the Beatles, the Vietnam War, the assassinations of RFK and Martin Luther King, the hippie movement, Woodstock, the space flights/moon landings, Watergate, the Election of '72, etc.
And, so much of what Kevin and Paul went through as friends reminded me so very much of what certain childhood friends of mine and I went through, ourselves (the fights, the mini-wars, the making up, learning about sex).
My father was a real hard guy, too, who tended to shy away from expressions of love, and never wanted to discuss sex . . . at least with me. His relationship with my older sister was at times not very peaceful, just like Kevin's father's with *his* sister.

Also, having played in a band myself from about age 13 to about age 20, the episode about Kevin's band ("the Electric Shoes") was particularly enjoyable to me. I sang in a school choir, too. Those were two more trips down Memory Lane for me. His recollections and observances were very much like my own.

And, Kevin loved the Beatles, the New York Jets and watching TV (not necessarily in that order) -- three very big parts of *my* life in those same days.

It, at times, was like stepping into a time machine for me.

I liked the show cause it was different. I watch the reruns all the time.

It was very authentic. I always remembered when i was watching these episodes when it was first on that kids back then had the same problems and issues like i did.

I like this show because I am am the same age as Kevin was(in the series). I also grew up in a "white-bread world" in the burbs. For me, it is like a trip down memory lane.

My only complaint about the show was Wayne. Honestly, I wish someone would have knocked the crap out of him. He picked on Kevin way too much, and got away with it way too often.

Anyway, I love that TNN is airing the show episode-by-episode, but I wish they would knock off the commercial stuff they plaster on the bottom 1/4 of the screen every 5 minutes or so. I don't care if Betty from Buffalo likes TNN.

Now that I am up to my armpits in car-pools, runny noses, and a million other kid-related things, I find my daily "fix" of the Wonder Years to be rather soothing. Actually, it is better than chocolate, or even a bubble bath...

I agree with Art and Twinkle. I'm in the gap between Kevin and the younger kids on Freaks and Geeks. I just loved the Wonder Years.
