So how's everyone feeling??? Today was the day that the WB aired "Goodbye"...I watched it a few weeks ago, and then again today. I must say, it's VERY well done. It wasn't dragged out and whiney like some other shows (Full House). It was just a great episode. Everyone did a great job...but god do I hate their Grandmother...

LOL, love your topic title!! I know, i was so freakin' depressed....i taped it but I haven't watched it since...until today. But when it first started i started crying when the hospital called! I seriously thought i wasn't going to be able to watch it but i made it! :)

I started crying when the hospital called, and even before it came on I was like holding back with all my might! Throughout the whole episode I was crying so hard. My mom was in her room the whole time but she came out for a second to put a magazine on a table and saw me and smiled when she saw my red face. lol Next time it comes on, I am not watching it. It was so hard this time, it was like reliving John's death all over again. :(

I cried the first time I saw it on ABC when it first aired. I couldn't help but shed a tear again as I watched for the first time in a while. One of the saddest shows I have seen on TV, especially since it was real tears from the actors. However, very well done. It was tasteful, but very, very sad.

Wow, my eyes seriously still hurt from crying so much. I even still have a headache from a few hours ago. I couldn't believe I lasted throughout the whole episode, because part of me wanted to turn off the TV so I wouldn't be depressed. I was so amazed how the cast held back their tears in some scenes because I know I definitely couldn't. I was bawling like a baby and when my dad came home, he even knew how sad I was and he even said sorry. It's just so different than just a character dying and saying "Oh well, at least the person who plays it is alive", because the actor isn't and it's really hard to sink it all in.

The funny thing is that Grandpa Jim came to console his daughter and grandkids and never leaves!

Back in 1998, when NBC aired the episode of "NewsRadio" where Bill died (Phil Hartman was murdered in real life). It was very sad to watch. But when I watch it now, in reruns, it's still sad but doesn't get me emotional anymore. The "Goodbye" episode of "8 Simple Rules", however, still makes me cry. I guess it's different because Bill was a co-worker, and Paul was the husband and father to the Hennesseys.

And yes, the Grandma WAS annoying! She kept picking fights with Jim and then acting like it was him who was upsetting Cate.

Judging by the reactions here, I am glad I had to work today and missed the episodes. I don't think I would've been able to handle it :(

Are they gonna keep showing the reruns over and over or is this a one time deal??? The goodbye episode was one of the best especially when Bridget came down with Carrie when the grandparents got there.She was just trembling and the music..Im tearing up just thinking about it

I think the deal is for 6 months so they should at least get back around to the episode two or three more times...

I remember watching this episode in it's original run. I have it on tape, but I haven't watched it since. I don't really want to watch it again, it's too sad.

The show is contracted to remain on the WB until September, 2006. The show has 76 episodes so they will start it over again approximately every 8 weeks. So we will see each episode probably 3 or 4 times.

It was "All I Want For Christmas"....one of my faves...lol.

I know what you guys mean, it was still really hard to watch it. My mom watched it with me and she even began to cry. The cast did an amazing job, as did everyone else involved with the show. It is so difficult for us to watch, just imagine how hard it was for them to perform the episode. I would not have been able to hold back my tears like they had to before Cate got the call. That is the scene that really gets me going, the call. I also like how real it was and because the actor really was dead in real life, it gave it that effect even more. They just did a phenomenal job and were really brave and strong for going through with that dramatic under-taking.

John Ritter's death was the last celebrity death that I was tearful at. I was shocked and angered at Phil Hartman's May 28, 1998 death in a murder-suicide at the hands of his wife.:(

Well Thanks for replying everyone! LOL..It's good that we all have each other and share our feelings and love for John.....8 Simple Rules should run all the episodes 3 times in FULL order, the 4th cycle might be cut short, becasue september will be here, and REBA's replacing it..(Although I do think 8SR and REBA are the best Family Sitcoms of the Millenium, and the WB should air them 2 back to back)......But we might not be as lucky as they keep playing the episodes, becasue they might start editing them more and more. This was the first time, so everything was great, but it might not be next time 'round. Let's all cross our fingers and record them while they last.

I cried so hard while watching this episode. It was very hard for me to control myself. I got myself so sick afterwards from all of the crying. Throughout the whole episode all I could think of was my precious John. I love and miss him dearly.
