I just got finished watching the two part episode of 8 Simple Rules (WB network) where the family was grieving Paul's passing. What a tearjerker! I haven't exactly seen every episode, and have only tuned in off and on, both before and after John's passing. This was the first time I've seen this episode. One thing for sure, the cast sure didn't need any extra motivation to act sad, because I'm sure they were hurting for real. I don't usually get emotional when watching a TV show where you know the story is just that... a story. However, in this case it was different, knowing that the person who passed on really did, and was not just written out of the show because he quit...
Rest in peace, John.

I watched it today also :( You're right about how it makes it even more touching and sad when you know it's real and they're not toally acting

I know... it was an amazing tribute to an amazing person. The entire cast, crew, producers, directors etc... did an amazing job, even with how they were really feeling. That is one of the things that James Garner who played Cates dad in the episode said, that they certainly did not have a difficult time crying. I can only imagine how they were able to hold it together until the characters find out he has passed away. Must have been really hard to hold the tears back. My mom watched the episode with me and she got a little weepy with me too. I also read somewhere that after they taped it, as they were getting ready to leave the set, Katey Sagal looked up to the stage ceiling and said "we love you John" really loud and there was not a dry eye in the house. It really does make a difference i emotions when you know the persosn is dead and the person is John, makes it all the more surreal and not so fake like. :( :( :(

Rest In Peace John...:(

I watched it over at a friends house. The both of us just started crying so hard. I was crying the most, because I am the one who absolutely loves John. It is so hard for me to watch that episode. I must have cried for over two hours. I love John so much and it hurts to watch that episode so much.

I love you so much John.

I watched and taped it myself, and the same thing happened as the first time, I was still in tears. It's still totally unreal that he's gone:(.There's also been other episodes that I've seen that I never seen before thanks to ch. 11 for putting '8SR' in syndication. I've heard that it's only going to be in syndication until September, why, I don't know. I've been taping them since they started the show in syndication on Jan. 9th. But I've noticed that they still haven't aired three episode that were in the first season;'Trick Or Treehouse' (Halloween episode), 'Paul Meets His Match',& 'All I Want For Christmas'. I hope that they air them.

I know that this is sort of an old post, but now they finally showed the two episodes that I never saw;'Paul Meets His Match',& 'All I Want For Christmas'. The Christmas episode brought me to tears. Not only because of John, but because during the scene of when Kate was singing 'Silent Night' in the church choir. She(Katey Sagal) has such a beautiful voice.

Now that I have a DVR, I've set it to record all episodes of "8 Simple Rules". Eventually, I'll have all, or nearly all of the episodes. I didn't appreciate this series when it first came on, but as sitcoms go, it's really pretty good. It's not that the writing is anything special; it's due to the wonderful performances of John and Katey. Auntie, I can relate to what you're saying. I think Katey is awesome. I like her almost as much as I like Joyce. What a classy and beautiful lady. Like Joyce, she's another who doesn't seem to age (much). They both look much younger than their years.

While both Joyce and Katey have done a few movies, no one can say they've had brilliant movie careers. I've always wondered about that. Both are very beautiful ladies, good actors, and present an enjoyable personality on screen. Unless they're not interested, why the heck haven't we seen either of them have more success on the silver screen?
