Did anyone else hope that the Dawn charactor would have gone away at the end of the 5th season?

To me, her charactor changed the dynamic too much. Her constant whining really got on my nearve and she seems to be way more trouble to the scoobies than she was worth.

I liked the whole thing about how she suddenly appeared and everyone had always "known" her. But I just wish that she would have vanished when the Bufster did the swan dive. After all, the key wouldnt be needed anymore.

yea, if I was Joss, I'd go back in time and end season 5 with Dawn's death... instead of a somber downbeat ending, it would've been a celebration on the street, lol

I hated Dawn soooo much. I thought she was a whiney ass. I couldn't take her. And when she screams...oh god!!!..but I watch the show now, and I must say, she's grown on me. Actually she's grown on me more than anyone else has on the show. I like her now. Especially in the 5th and 7th seasons....I remember years ago I used to pray that someone runs her over with a car, or a vamp bites her, or something. I just couldn't.: But yeah, I like her. I'm officially humiliated.

I didn't really like Dawn in season 5 and 6, but season 7 she got a little better.

I agree. I never liked Dawn. I liked Buffy being an only child. Plus, in my opinion, Dawn kinda ruined Buffy and Willow's very close and sisterly-like friendship. When Dawn entered the picture, all Buffy cared about was Dawn, and the hell with Zander, Willow, and Giles, who were her very close friends, who helped her, and saved her life many times. It was all about that brat!

I also agree in that Dawn ruined the strong family like relationship that Buffy had with Willow, Xander and Giles. Although I also feel that having Dawn suddenly leave at the end of season five after shifting the whole world to have Dawn be Buffy's sister would have been a little awkward...She could have just kind of hidden in the backround like an extra through seasons six and seven. lol.

I'm going to agree with you guys. Dawn ruined the dynamic of the main four characters. I don't hate her character though because there are certain episodes I like with her. I just wish she didn't take away that bond the others had with each other. They seemed a little more distant with each other as the series went on.

I didn't like Dawn, I wish she had not ever become part of the show to begin with. OR, at least whack her at the end of season 5!

Yeah.. that is true. She definitely did mess up the three's relationship. But you never know what would've happened if Dawn didn't come.. Xander might become EXTREMELY involved with Anya, and it would've brought him further away, and Willow would become extremely involved with Tara/Kennedy and the magics and it would've brought her further away.

Dawn's character did annoy me, but she did care for Buffy, Willow, Xander, etc. When she first came, she was extremely annoying and I just wanted to hurt her.. but as the series progressed I started to really like her ... probably around Tara's death. Like, in Season 7 she got a lot better.
