Hi Joey

I do remember over a year ago, I requested some episodes from "someone" and they wanted at the time, a VHS tape with 5 episodes, $50 ea! For a total of 7 VHS Tapes of a show I wanted, I forget now the name of the show... and I said,      "Keep your silly show" and they never sold their show, to anyone...but they felt since no one had it, they can jack up the prices? Sorry, that doesn't work that way..not for you, nor for me! ;)

I have some RARE shows, not listed yet, and I'm not going to "horde" them either...they're for sharing, I feel the more hands they come across the better! Each generation loses out on these marvelous gems, that may never see the life of release or air time again...and as you get older, just share them!

Cheers Joey!

you cant do much about them

Personall I think its a total rip off
I think those prices are crazy

I mean $50 for a vhs tape? come on that is not trading thats overcharging!

i dont care if people sell, BUTTTTT there is very little that I can think of that I would pay that much for

and I think people who sell for that much for a vhs tape, give traders and sellers a bad name

It all depends on how rare something is

For instance I would pay $50 for the 4 eps of CHECKING IN

and i did pay $50 for the unaired tv pilot THE WORLD OF LENNY BRUCE on ebay
b/c its real rare

but as for those who charge $50 a tape for EVERYTHING
that is insane

I mean--- I ALWAYS prefer to trade b/c that helps us both out
some people NEVER want to trade, ONLY want to sell
and if they want to do that fine---- but I ask this---- how many tapes are u selling at $50 a pop????
if they lowered the prices, they would sell a ton more, and have a lot better reputation

just my 2 cents worth

INCASE YOU HAVE A HARD TIME SEEING..

Well, despite the fact that this is a tape trading forum, maybe because you did not specify in the thread in question that you only wanted to trade, people figured you might want to buy? The price issue is another, uh, issue altogether.

A better question might be why you typed this entire thing in uppercase.

Some people still think they will make more money selling 2 $50.00 tapes per week than selling 10 $25.00 tapes per week. Walmart, need I say more:)

It's simple, people try to sell cuz money is money.

Sometimes people sell, because they need to make money to buy discs to trade.
Sometimes they sell out of greed.
Sometimes they sell, because its similar to the hobby. Somewhat easy to do- and you cna do it from home

Whatever the reason, as long as people are buying people will sell

I do what i can to edit posts on selling, and urge users to report such posts. And something like that can get ugly, and or bring an entire website down.

This is a trading site, there are sites to sell I don't understand why people can't keep them seperate. But I edit about 45 posts a week so it must be something I don't fathom.

Sorry it caused you frustration. But the simple fact is, some people don't have an alternative to buying becuase their collection isn't built yet, or they dont have what they need to trade, or they dont have the knowledge or equiptment.

So i imagine, sometimes its frustrating not being able to buy too.

Well I have learned a few lessons here

if you DID post about selling the Bill Cosby Show complete at that high of a price---you would most likely get 1 sale---- AND THEN PEOPLE WOULD TRADE IT ALL OVER THE PLACE for cheap

I have learned its best to be fair, if it cost you some $ to get it, dont expect to recoup it on 1 set

ALSO I do know 100% that you are not the only person on this board who has the COMPLETE Bill Cosby Show

i do not name names, or out people who dont want to make a post but its out there in internet ville!

Lamont

none intended
it is just that i trade

but when someone asks to buy a set, i try to be fair and not go overboard
THERE ARE MANY HERE who sell a vhs tape for $50
which is just not a fair price by my standards

i mean, if someone asks to buy a 8 or 10 disc set from me, i might charge less than $50 FOR THE WHOLE SET, and that can be up to 30 or 40 hours total
and then certain vhs sellers want $50 for a2 hour tape, so if i were to buy that same set from them it could cost me up to $1000

CRAZY! :(

No one likes getting ripped off or overcharged for something. It's eventually up to the buyer to determine how much they're willing to pay for something. If someone requests fifty bucks for a two hour VHS tape, I would steer clear of that individual.

Well, FWIW, I have purchased from Quinncy. He often can get items that either I've not found elsewhere on the trading circuit (key phrase being "I'VE not found") or that I've found but that person doesn't want to trade with me and I'm tired of looking. Once, he goofed up & sent me the wrong thing & I had NO PROBLEM getting him to send me a replacement (for no extra charge to me). So very good customer service, IME. I know not everyone wants to buy & I know not everyone who is willing to buy is willing to pay the fees he charges. (I admit, the expense is on the high end & I have to budget it in over time compared to others who charge $5 per disc.) I also know many people don't want stuff on VHS but I have the equipment to transfer from VHS to DVD & if the only way I can get a show is on VHS, then so be it. But...in the immortal words of Michael Keaton, "is this a great country or what?" (Night Shift). Supply/demand. (shrug)

I paid $40 for a pretty bad quality VHS last year. I kind of regret doing it now because I could have easily traded for it. If it was a complete set I know I would pay a good amount for it, but not just for 4 episodes.

RedWhine you hit the nail on the head.:o
Supply and demand.

People pay what its worth.
The ones saying oH my, 50????? a tape???

Well, they aren't going to buy it-

But obviouslly enough do, that the price remains.

Once again, I have nothing against selling, if you stand by your work.
There are some things, that just aren't being put out- and I have seen stores put limited edition sets out for 150.00 for a 3 volume set.

Remember Laser Discs?

I paid 385.00 For Star Wars Trilogy on Laser.

People said I was crazy.

(which by the way is still being debated)

Point is, people pay what they feel something is worth.
If no one bought, no one would sell would they.
And if no one bought at the crazy price being quoted here, the price would have changed.

All in all, if you need / want to sell, so be it.

(Just don't do it here Ahem)

Trade, Buy, Sell, Create, Drag your 8 MM out---

Just be happy.

Well, I suspect we all have purchases/trades we regret. I paid $50 for a single 1 hour show (NOT to Quinncy) and it was lousy. The seller did not misrepresent the quality, so I knew what I was getting into. At the time tho, it was the best I could get. I've since obtained a better copy, but...live & learn. Would I do it again...not a chance...but at the time I knew of no other source for that show & was impatient. It's still a fairly obscure show & I don't see many episodes on the trading circuit (Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour). I'm not really sure why. One thing I have learned over time is a bit of patience. (Operative word being 'BIT'!!!!  )

I have all 52 episodes of The Bill Cosby Show (1969-71). Picture and sound quality is an 8/9 on a scale of ten. This great show is hard to find, I doubt it will be coming out on DVD anytime soon.

I seen the Bill Cosby Show on lots of Traders List so I would really consider the show that rare
