View Full Version : HELP!!! Got duplicate "disc 2" in Mary Tyler Moore S3 set...
PZelda 01-17-2006, 06:15 PM HELP!!!
I got my MTM S3 set today, and I stupidly didn't look at the side with the cases before I brought it. As luck would have it, I grabbed the set that had the following discs: Disc 2, Disc 2 and Disc 3. I have no Disc 1 in my set. :( I know there is a way you can mail in the duplicate disc to get the correct disc... but what is the procedure? How do I do this with 20th Century Fox?
Luckily I still have other DVD's to watch before I begin on MTM S3, but I'm still a little peeved this happened. I already opened it. Whoops.
TV DVD Fan 01-17-2006, 08:03 PM That sucks, but at least you got 2 out of the 3 discs, I got none of them and I'm going crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure, but Sony does have that kind of program, so just look at one of your Sony DVD booklets, and that should be the same procedure for Fox.

vashti1999 01-17-2006, 08:14 PM PZelda, go here (http://www.foxhome.com/replacement/). Even though it says for damaged discs, I would think you could do duplicate exchanges too.
PZelda 01-17-2006, 08:22 PM 4-6 weeks?!! mail the ENTIRE boxset?!! Somehow, that's not what I had in mind... :faint:
But I shall do it if there is no other alternative...

Now that I look at it, you also shouldn't have to pay either, if it's their manufacturing mistake. If you bought it at a store, maybe the store will take it back. Likewise if you ordered from amazon or DDD. Maybe you should try where you got it before contacting FOX.

Yup, I asked the same question over at HTF and I was told to go back to the store of the DVD's origin to exchange it. If they will not take back my set, then there is somebody on here that has already contacted me and told me that they have a still-shrinkwrapped MTM S3 set that they do not want anymore. :)

Allison, you got the worst luck of any TV-DVD buyer I know! Didn't you get some bad discs in a Murder, She Wrote set a while back?

Yeah, they would barely play at all. I never got around to sending it to Universal. Hmm, ya think I should send 'em to Universal and tell them the discs are defective? Because they are...a lot of the episodes barely play and the one where Vicki Lawrence guest-starred would NOT play. I was soooo upset over that.

The store you bought it from will definitely take it back.
They have to.

I think you should be like me and start buying your DVD's in the store. Atleast if this happened with a DVD u bought from a store you could have went right back to the store tomorrow nstead of waiting 4-6 weeks.
Mister Ed 01-20-2006, 12:08 AM Just take the set back. Back in May when I bought The Golden Girls Season 2 set at Wal-Mart, the inside of the case cardboard looked like it had some water damage so I just returned it for another one. If that will work then they will accept your set.

Um, Solomon, I DID bring it at a store. :p Target, to be exact. I buy a lot of my DVD's in-store but sometimes I buy online if a DVD I want isn't available in stores, like Hunter S3 a few weeks ago. None of the stores here had 'em so I ordered via DDD.
What happened the day after I made this post was, I went back to Target to exchange it but they were all sold out of MTM S3, so they refunded me the $ for it. Then I contacted the person who offered to give me their copy of MTM S3. :)

I hadn't gone to Target this week until today (Thursday) and they were sold out of MTM S3 here too. I actually went there to pick up Doogie Howser S3 (which they didn't have either) but planned on ordering MTM from amazon since it's just $20.99 there.
By the way, who's this mysterious person giving away dvds? :eek3:

The person:
Ireneparalegal. But sorry, she only had one copy of MTM S3. She won it in a contest and isn't a MTM fan, so she offered me her copy. :D
MTM was 22.99 at Target, totally not a bad deal at all. I think the last time MTM came out at Target, it was 29.99.

if something like that happens again, try e-mailing or writing to the company. I was having a problem with one of the discs in my season 1 set of "The Dick Van Dyke show" so I contacted the company (Image Entertainment) and they said to send the disc back and they'll send me a new one. So, I did, and they did.
Same thing happened with a DVD I have of The 3 Stooges-only the company was Anchor Bay.
SO Games 4 Us 01-21-2006, 12:14 AM Yikes!!!

how did u get no discs at all??!?
FredScuttle 01-27-2006, 08:05 PM I had the same thing happen with one of the Gilligan's Island sets. Luckily I had purchased it at Best Buy and just took it back and showed the girl at the customer service desk. She went back and grabbed another set and double checked it before I left. I always make sure to check mine now as soon as I open them up (in case I don't get around to watching it right away)

That was just a joke, I didn't get the set yet.
I'm gonna have to hold out a couple more weeks until my birthday I think.

Johnny S 02-07-2006, 09:03 PM I know this is kind of an old topic, but Fox seems to do this quite often. I bought "Roswell: Season 1" this past summer and I had a duplicate disc 2 as well. I just brought it back to Best Buy (Where I bought it) & They didn't give me any problems. I never have problems with returns. I once returned a set because one of the disc hubs was broken and the disc was loose & slightly scratched. And that was after the 30-day return period. (That's how anal I am lol)
Ireneparalegal 02-07-2006, 09:05 PM Best Buy is very good regarding their returns and exchanges.
