View Full Version : Does this make me a SNOB?
TVFactFan 01-17-2006, 05:32 PM I'm in the process of finding a new apt and my mom asked me where in Philadelphia do I want to move and I said-"whatever section has the lowest crime rate" So she said I sound like a Snob-lol Does it make a person a snob who wants to live in a area where they don;t have to worry about getting robbed?
G-Force Glockstar 01-17-2006, 05:36 PM No
Courtnee 01-17-2006, 05:43 PM no it makes you smart. I would feel the same way.

Not at all. It means they're wise.
Polniaczek033 01-17-2006, 05:57 PM no. maybe it was just your tone?
my mom gets like that a lot.

I would think your mom would be concerned for your safety, so I don't know where she is coming from.
Did she go on to say, "In my day, bullets whizzed by our heads on our way to school and we liked it. We were mugged daily and we were thankful for it. What's with people these days and their attitude against crime?"
TVFactFan 01-17-2006, 06:02 PM Not at all. It means they're wise.
Everytime I say that to my cousin she can;t stop laughing. Maybe it was the way i put it-"low crime area"

Okay, I actually just laughed out loud, to the point that my husband asked me what's so funny from another room.

She feels that If I live in a area where the crime rate is a little higher and the rent is a little lower, i will have a lot more spending money after i pay my bills.

If no one steals your spending money.

Yeah, so you can buy lots of electronics that will end up stolen and you'll have to get more.
You won't have any spending money that way either.

Nighthawk76 01-17-2006, 06:19 PM No, it makes you intelligent. Who wants to live in an area with a great deal of crime?

same here Janice..."bullets whizzing by..." LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brad Russ 01-18-2006, 09:03 PM I'd rather be an alive snob, than a dead humble person. Nothing about you wanting to be safe, makes you a snob. Kind of strange that your mom would react that way. seems like she'd be glad that her son prefers living in a safer neighborhood. Being able to save a little extra money isn't worth putting your life at greater risk.
James"Thunder"Early 01-18-2006, 10:34 PM No it doesn't. Some people think you wanting to live in a good, safe neighborhood means you think you are better than everybody.

In reality, if you want to live somewhere totally crime free, you'll probably have to live in a place like North Dakota or Montana.
