This is a thread Iv'e been thinking about starting for awhile now, and I really hope it catches on. I, and I'm sure many others here, are really into online video, so I thought, why not share some of your favorite videos that we've either downloaded, or found at some website, and post it here, so others can see it. It can be funny, scary, surprising, sad, emotional, inspirational, shocking, movie trailers, or whatever other kinds of videos you can find. If you do decide to post a link to a video, please make sure that the content, and any website that may be holding the content, is PG-13 or less, because I'd hate for this thread to be closed.

Also, I found a cool site awhile back where you play a video, and rate it on how much you liked it from 1 to 10, so if anyone wants to rate any of the video that's provided, please do. Anyway, I really hope that people will respond to this, because I think it can be an awful lot of fun. There are some really good online vids out there!!

I'll get this thread rolling!!

if you are one of us who believes MTV has gone downhill and is beyond saving today... here is 60 minutes of actual MTV programming recorded in what looks to be around September 1982. In the two videos, you see videos from the likes of Santana, Pat Benatar, The Who, Rick Springfield and Duran Duran (I didn't realize Hungry Like The Wolf was getting airplay this early, considering the song became a hit on the charts in early 1983)

we see vintage Martha Quinn and the late J.J. Jackson here too, along with vintage 1982 commercials, including a plug for Rush's "Signals" album, a definate hoot for fans of the 80's. I only hope this guy loads up even more classic MTV

This is truly some good stuff.

In the Dutch tv-program 'Kopspijkers' (which had over 3 million people watching every week, which is remarkably if you consider there are 'only' 16 million people living in this country) they once imitated George Bush. No, it's not an anti-American program. They have imitated almost everyone, from the Pope to our queen, from Vladimir Putin to our prime-minister.

It's all in English, of course, (but with Dutch subtitles), so you can watch it too if you'd like. It was made and aired almost a year ago, when Bush was just (re-)elected and touring through Europe to brush up his reputation. The imitation is done by the Dutch cabaret artist Thomas van Luyn.

You can watch it here:
http://variatee.vara.nl/kopspijkers/playerpage.jsp?filmID=58005&playerName=kopspijkers.player
You have to scroll down a little and then click on 'George Bush'. It plays in Windows Media Player. You can enlarge the screen.

(The only Dutch thing he says is 'Strafhof', which is the UN International Criminal Court in The Hague. The joke 'Jan Peter what's his name' is a shot at our prime-minister.)

I think many people will already know this site (either from own experience or maybe my sig), but I *have* to mention it. Both Republican- and Democrats-smacking going on in a funny way here:

in a way, it's almost kinda depressing to see how far down the toilet MTV's gone. It's sad that we're now discovering a generation of teenagers who have no recollection of "growing up" with artists and their music videos. Those of us who were kids in the 80's and early 90's grew up with a bunch of icons and remember where we were the first time we saw their videos, yet MTV doesn't give a crap about music anymore and all they show now are a bunch of crappy reality shows that have nothing to do with music (has Newlyweds ever focused on Nick or Jessica's music?) and are mostly loaded with a bunch of 19 year olds who are attractive but have no personality. MTV gets higher ratings now because frankly more people have cable, but MTV actually scored a higher percentage of cable viewers during it's peak, roughly around 1982-1995

I swear, if I inherited MTV, I would axe all the reality shows and bring it back to "music videos 24 hrs long" again so younger generations will have their versions of Michael Jackson, Madonna, Guns N Roses and Nirvana. Even someone who is highly popular these days like Kelly Clarkson has hardly received the video airplay that an artist with four top 10's off one album should be receiving.

just streamable, it was taped off MTV on some Friday night (since they were talking about a Saturday night concert by the Outlaws the next day) around I'm presuming August or September 1982 given some of the "evidence" on it, there's music videos like Hungry Like The Wolf, Down Under, Pat Benatar's You Better Run, Santana's Hold On, Rick Springfield's Don't Talk To Strangers and some others, along with Martha Quinn and J.J. Jackson talking about Billy Squier (ROFL!!!) and Duran Duran.

I'd like to see some more "classic" MTV circa 1981-1996 on there. It all went to hell when they moved to Times Square

here is a vintage, hard-to-find music video that I'm damn near convinced she is likely pissed off that traces of this video are still in existence and not all burned, since she has never released it on any of her video collections and the video likely hasn't been aired in 25 years (it was made in 1979).

I totally agree with you. It's been so long since I last watched MTV, that I really can't even recall the last time I saw it. And VH1 isn't much better either. Slowly but surely, VH1 has become just like MTV, in that the only time they'll even consider playing music videos is at like 2 in the morning. Thank God for VH1 classic is all I can say. If it wasn't for that channel, I'd have nowhere to go to on the boob tube to hear some of the old time classic stuff I listened to as a kid.

I just feel so bad for all the great musician's out there who don't have MTV to launch their careers like MTV did for so many artists in the 1980's. When they do play music now, it seems to be the same songs and artists over and over and over again. There's alot of great lesser known groups out there, and MTV's old format would be perfect for them. Because of MTV being so into this reality tv thing now, people are missing out on alot of great music, and that's truly ashame!!!

If you haven't already, please check out some of the stuff I posted. I think it's a really good variety of stuff. Some funny, some sad, some touching, all kinds of good stuff. It would be appreciated.

I must say you're being a good sport. Most people on the Politics-board can't even stand a joke being made about Bush.

That clip about 'Bush drunk at a wedding' was a riot!

Thanks!! :) I try to be a good sport. I try not to take things like parodies, and jokes, and things of that nature too seriously. I mean, when I hear a funny President Bush drunk joke, I'm usually the first one in the room to laugh. When Jimmy Kimmel shows clips of President Bush dissecting the English language, flipping people the bird, or holding hands with some guy from Saudi Arabia, while playing the song "Up Where We Belong," I laugh. I did it with former President Clinton as well. When something's funny, it's funny, and I'll acknowledge it

What I don't like, is mean spiritedness. When an entertainer takes cheap shots at him politically, or in some cases even lies, or passes off his opinion as fact, as Iv'e seen them do many times, that's the kind of thing that upsets me. But I have no problem at all with light hearted satire, I love that kind of stuff.

Man that College kid totally butchered that sportscast. That's probably how I would have been had I tried that. Poor kid. That show is actually a local show we have here in Oregon called Teen Edition. Usually the kids do a great job, but I don't know what the heck happened to the sports reporter guy. I was embarrassed for him. Imagine having to go back to school and face your peers after something like that?? LOL!!

That nine minute film was funny too. I was laughing my ass off throughout the whole thing. Especially when he was mimicking sex with the girls mailbox. Ha ha ha ha!! Thanks alot for the great videos. They were great.

Wow! That video is heartbreaking, but sweet. It's a nice animal tribute. My family lost a Dovermen in 1999 and a Manchester Terrier in 2000. There were a few pictures that kind of looked like them.

Awww, I'm sorry to hear about those losses. :( I think that video is so touching, because most everyone has lost a pet, and can really relate to it. I made the mistake of watching it right after I had been thinking about my old dogs Brandy and Ribsy, who we had to give away back in 1994. One of the dogs (The one with the leash in it's mouth), reminded me of Brandy, and I just about lost it then.

Anyways, thanks alot for checking out some of the links!! I hope you enjoyed them!! :)

I heard a few of the things he said here and there. At one point he said, "They were the only friends I had." A little piece of me actually felt bad for the kid, I'll admit, but that's what he gets for trolling message boards. Of course, the whole thing might have been a joke on his part, but I just thought it was funny how these trolls come off so tough on message boards, yet in real life, many turn out to be whiny little babies.

Here's a funny parody that was originally posted by bossradio93 over at the politics board. The actual song is from Aerosmith, and is called "Janie's Got A Gun," but this version is called: "Dick Cheney's Got A Gun."

I didn't know he had a special recently. Did it air on MTV or something?? Dang, I can't believe I missed it, I love Tom Green. If it aired on MTV though, it's bound to air about 1000 more times, so atleast I'll get a chance to see it in the future.

Anyway, the way I find most of these funny videos, is by going to yahoo. Right above where you type in stuff to search, it says video. Just click on that, and then type in your search query, and you'll get a bunch of video results. If it's available online, that's probably your best way of finding it. Just make sure when you search, you have it on safesearch. Otherwise, you'll get a bunch of pornographic results, and that's not fun.

Thanks for the search tips. :)

Actually, the special was not recent at all. It aired like at around 2000-2001-ish. So no need to worry! Then again, you may not get to see it. :(

Oh wait, was that the one where he was going out with Drew Barrymore, or was it the one where he was hanging out with Monica Lewinsky? Because I actually did see both of those specials.

You're welcome for the tips!! It's always nice to be able to help someone out. :)
