That really does not make him famous though. Also most of the shows he produced are not among my favorites. Ohio8 01-17-2006, 06:30 PM I once lived down the street from someone who's semi-famous. His name is Dr. Arthur Benjamin, Ph.D., and he's a professor of mathemathics at Harvey Mudd College in California. He invented a game called Mathenatics, and he wrote numerous articles and papers and co-wrote a book. He also was in several videos and in 1988 there was a story on him in "People" magazine. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Mrs. Channing: "Rude, rude, rude." So far I still have not gotten a free ticket to his concert, haha. Also, my parents are real good friends with Bo Orlando. I think he was on the Oilers football team and then the Chargers. I even remember going to his house too, and I have an autograph of him and then he signed a card and gave it to me. But that was probably when I was way little, because I remember when I went to their house I was watching Barney, haha! Weird. We don't know him personally, though. Ireneparalegal 01-17-2006, 08:37 PM Anyone know someone who is famous or knew them before they became famous? I just found out that my former 7th grade Language Arts teacher was in a movie in 2003. I knew about some voice over work she did, but I didn't know that she appeared in a movie. I knew she was looking into doing independent films, but that's the last thing I knew. I haven't heard from her in about five or six years. She moved from Texas to South Carolina. She's no longer teaching. She stopped teaching in 1999 or 2000. Her name was Ms. Kaleta Smith, but she got married in 2000 and her last name changed to Burruto. She appeared in the movie (AfterLife) 2003, playing Dr. Amanda Selph. I haven't seen the movie. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1188797/ Does "infamous" count????? TJL 01-17-2006, 08:54 PM I'm friends with actress Jennifer Milmore, who had a supporting role on "Jesse" with Chrstina Applegate. Karen* 01-17-2006, 10:48 PM In my mind, I am married to Anthony Rapp. :grr: Janet Tripper 01-17-2006, 11:57 PM No, but I have known some people who have known famous people: -One of my co-workers (an instructor) actually knew Joyce DeWitt (Janet from Three's Company) while they grew up in Indiana years ago. Her older sister was a friend of Joyce's during their elementary school years. I thought that was pretty cool. I could probably get some dirt/info on Joyce's childhood if I asked her for details! WOW~!!! That is totally cool!!! snl 70s show fan 01-18-2006, 01:18 AM I'm friends with actress Jennifer Milmore, who had a supporting role on "Jesse" with Chrstina Applegate.im a fan of jennifer milmore she was great on jessie she is also very cute ponytail 01-18-2006, 07:01 AM Personally I don't know anyone famous but my brother was a friend to actor Ben Johnson and a co-worker of mine is Gretchen Wilson's aunt. WhoStheBoss_Fan 01-18-2006, 07:51 AM my family is good friends with the olsen twins' family, my grandmother lives next door to thier grandmother in Arkansas. robyrob 01-18-2006, 09:16 AM it just so happens that I know Chad Doody personally :snob: Penny Lane 01-18-2006, 10:09 AM My friend Katie's husband was Elvis Presley's platoon seargent in the late 50's. Katie baked some cookies for him and he sent her a thank you letter. But unfortunately she cannot find the letter!:( I would love to see it! She said that she was never an Elvis fan anyway. She liked Pat Boone! What a Square! snl 70s show fan 01-18-2006, 02:28 PM the cookie story reminds me we did live down the street from roy rogers and dale evans when i was little dale asked my mother to bake some cookies for a church rummage sale that they were having and dale came over and picked up the cookies and i was playing with my toys in the living room and dale patted me on the head and said hello i dont remember much about roy i think i only met hhim once for a minute but he was really shy and the only thing i really remember him saying to me was hello but he didnt talk much Dean Winchester 01-18-2006, 04:55 PM well, I remember my first grade teacher telling us how she dated Tom Cruise when they were in high school MsOrange 01-18-2006, 05:10 PM I'm friends with actress Jennifer Milmore, who had a supporting role on "Jesse" with Chrstina Applegate. she also guest starred on Friends once didn't she? that's so cool vashti1999 01-18-2006, 05:13 PM She's not famous, unfortunately, but I went to high school with Ronda Fowler (http://imdb.com/name/nm0288795/), who was a regular on an early 90s sketch comedy show called Uptown Comedy Club, where Tracy Morgan got his start. I always hoped she'd become famous so I could walk around with my high school yearbook and brag that I knew her when... -*Forever*- 01-18-2006, 06:07 PM My uncle knew Richard Gere in high school. My aunt is friends with Jeff Conine (a baseball player, for those of you who don't know), Nick Carter, Bill Clinton, and Matthew Perry. Personally, the only "famous" person I've ever really talked to and become friends with is Mary Roach from last season's American Idol... the "crazy" one who had voices in her head. She's not really crazy. I love her. TJL 01-18-2006, 06:49 PM she also guest starred on Friends once didn't she? Yes. She had an occuring role in a few episodes. After that, she got a bit part on the "Veronica's Closet" pilot episode. When that happened, i told her she was going to land on a show of her own the next TV season. (I have a theory that if an actor/actress appears on more than one NBC show in one season, that means that NBC is grooming that person for a new series.) Sure enough, the next year she was on "Jesse." When I ran into her sister that summer, she grabbed me and said "Jen told me that when you see Tom, tell him he was right!" EmoJoe 01-18-2006, 08:43 PM no Nighthawk76 01-18-2006, 10:48 PM I plan to one day be famous then you can all say you knew me. Ags2000 01-18-2006, 11:03 PM A lady I work with at the Aquarium used to be an actress before going back to school and getting her degree to work at Aquariums. I don't know if you'd call this famous, but I went to school witha lady who is now a tv news reporter. Still talk to her, she's nice. Then of course different politicians here in Texas. D MissZero 01-18-2006, 11:33 PM my aunt is friends with a lady who was in the girls baseball league from which A League of Their Own was based...my sister also met another player from the league when we were collecting for softball in front of K-Mart. She was actually an extra in the movie MissZero 01-18-2006, 11:33 PM oooh and a teacher at a nearby school is cousins with nicholas cage MsOrange 01-19-2006, 08:20 AM Yes. Ireneparalegal 04-21-2006, 01:15 PM hmmmm...well, my daughter's high school teacher (when she was in high school) is Jessica Alba's uncle. He knew my daughter was a big fan of hers. He would let her hear her voice mail messages she would leave on his cell. He would always tell her where she was at, what she was working on, etc. Number 9 Dream 04-21-2006, 01:29 PM I just thought of another one-- my Uncle does photography work for groups like Taking Back Sunday, Hawthorne Heights, and a lot of those little groups that came out of Long Island (and I'm sure others that haven't too). He gets to hang out with them and snap pics of them playing :) I can ask him more about it next time I see him. I thought that was really cool. Mijada 04-21-2006, 05:32 PM I don't know anyone famous but my sister went to school with Paul Feig who created the show Freaks and Geeks. My former boss' wife went to school with Madonna and my brother used to live across the hall from Kid Rock before he became famous. KristinHerreraFan 04-21-2006, 08:44 PM My best friend is Rashmi Kalubowila, a worker at Nickelodeon and guest starred on a few Zoey 101 episodes. JO jr 04-22-2006, 01:34 AM FAMOUS PEOPLE I'VE MET/SEEN: WHILE COMING HOME FROM WORK, FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO HOSPITAL LATE ONE NIGHT, I WATCHED KEIFER SUTHERLAND, KEVIN BACON, OLIVER PLATT, & DIRECTOR JOEL SHUMACHER WHILE FILMING "FLATLINERS". I GOT KEIFER'S AUTOGRAPH, AND SPOKE WITH THE LIMO DRIVER, WHO WAS GIVING ME THE LOW DOWN ON SUCH & SUCH ACTOR & ACTRESS, INCLUDING ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAV'S, JESSICA LANGE. I WAS INVITED TO EAT WITH THE CAST & CREW. I DIDN'T EAT ANYTHING OF COURSE, BUT I DID SIT WITH THEM & TAKE IT ALL IN. THIS WENT ON FOR ABOUT 3 NIGHTS/EARLY MORNINGS. THEY WERE ALL VERY NICE, AND KEIFER WAS A QUIET, NICE MAN. I'M GLAD TO SEE HE'S DOING VERY WELL IN 24! I ALSO MET BARRY WILLIAMS, AKA, GREG BRADY. I WAS WITH SOME FRIENDS AT MIDWAY AIRPORT, WHEN ONE OF THEM SAID, "HEY, ISN'T THAT GREG BRADY?" WE ALL LOOKED, AND I HAD TO TAKE A SECOND LOOK, AS HE WAS ON A PAY PHONE. I TOLD MY FRIENDS TO GET ME SOMETHING TO WRITE WITH, BECAUSE I WAS PROCEEDING TO THE PAY PHONES. I THEN WENT ON A PHONE A FEW AWAY FROM HIM, AND PRETENDED TO ENGAGE IN A CONVERSATION WITH SOMEONE ON THE OTHER END (NOW TRYING OUT MY ACTING ABILITIES!). BARRY SEEMED TO BE TICKED OFF AT SOMEONE ON THE OTHER LINE, AND WASN'T TOO HAPPY. I WAS TRYING TO LISTEN, WHILE MAKING UP MY OWN CONVERSATION. MEANWHILE, MY FRIENDS WERE ABLE TO GET ME THE PEN & PAPER I WANTED, ALTHOUGH I DIDN'T NOTICE IT. WHEN BARRY GOT OFF THE PHONE, I HAD TO "END" MY CONVERSATION QUICKLY, SO I COULD MEET HIM. I ASKED IF HE WAS BARRY WILLIAMS, IN WHICH HE SAID HE WAS. I TOLD HIM I WAS A BIG FAN & GREW UP WATCHING THE BRADY BUNCH. I SHOOK HIS HAND. HE WAS VERY GRACIOUS AND KIND. I REMEMBER THAT HE HAD THE PRETTIEST GREEN EYES, TOO. MY FRIENDS COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT I DID TO MEET HIM. WE ALL WERE IN SHOCK AND LAUGHED AND TALKED THAT DAY ABOUT MEETING GREG BRADY. I ALSO MET MY FAVORITE BASEBALL PLAYER, BILL BUCKNER. HE WAS THE FIRST BASEMEN FOR THE CHICAGO CUBS AT THE TIME. MY FAMILY FOUND OUT HE WAS GOING TO BE AT A NEARBY CAR DEALERSHIP SIGNING AUTOGRAPHS. I REMEMBER BEING SO NERVOUS IN LINE TO MEET HIM, EVEN SHAKING WHEN I DID (I WAS YOUNG AT THE TIME). I TOLD HIM HE WAS MY FAVORITE PLAYER, AND ASKED HIM IF I COULD KISS HIM ON THE CHEEK. I THINK I SURPRISED AND FLATTERED HIM, AND HE VERY KINDLY SAID YES. I WAS IN 7TH HEAVEN THAT NIGHT, AND TOLD ALL MY FRIENDS THE NEXT DAY. I WATCHED THE RED SOX GAME HE IS "FAMOUS" FOR, AND TO THIS DAY, I FEEL BAD FOR HIM, WHENEVER I SEE THE "FAMOUS" RED SOX PLAY. HE WAS SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT. HE WAS A GREAT BASEBALL PLAYER AND MAN, BUT UNFORTUNATLEY, MANY SEEM TO FORGET ALL THAT. THAT IS TOO BAD. IT REALLY IS. AFTER HER CONCERT IN SKOKIE, IL, I WAS ABLE TO HAVE THE PLEASURE OF MEETING BETTY BUCKLEY (ABBEY FROM EIGHT IS ENOUGH). SHE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE ACTRESSES, AND I KNEW SHE HAD THIS GREAT SINGING VOICE, SO WHEN SHE CAME TO DO A CONCERT NEAR MY WORK, NO LESS, I HAD TO GO. AFTER HER CONCERT, I ASKED ONE OF THE USHERS IF I COULD GIVE HER THE FLOWERS I HAD. THEY CHECKED AND SAID BETTY HAD A COLD AND WAS NOT FEELING WELL, BUT SHE WOULD MET WITH ME. I WAS THEN DIRECTED BACKSTAGE. SHE INVITED ME ONTO THE COUCH, WHERE WE TALKED A LITTLE WHILE. I TOLD HER HOW I LOVED HER ACTING, AND THAT SHE AND EIGHT IS ENOUGH HAVE BEEN FAV'S OF MINE SINCE I WAS A LITTLE GIRL. (I THINK I EVEN TOLD HER I HAD THE BIGGEST CRUSH ON NICHOLAS & JEREMY (ADAM & RALPH). SHE SIGNED A PERSONAL AUTOGRAPHED PIC FOR ME. SHE WAS SO GRACIOUS AND KIND, AND I HAVE NEVER FORGOTTEN THAT ENCOUNTER. I WOULD LOVE TO BE ABLE TO MEET HER AGAIN, TOO! ALL I CAN SAY IS EVERYONE I HAVE MET HAVE GONE OUT OF THEIR WAY TO BE WONDERFUL, BUT THEN AGAIN, MAYBE THAT'S JUST THEIR NATURE, AND WHY I'M REALLY A FAN IN THE FIRST PLACE. PEOPLE I'D STILL LOVE TO MEET: CAST FROM FACTS OF LIFE, EIGHT IS ENOUGH, CAGNEY & LACEY. HEY, I'M AN 80'S CHILD-AND PROUD OF IT! Brian 04-22-2006, 02:55 AM My family and I are best friends with L.A. Times sportswriter Bill Plaschke and his family. They are really great people. I hope we can get back to going to each other's houses and making Christmas cookies like we used to. He took my father and I to a Mighty Ducks game a few years ago. That was my only hockey game thus far. Superstar 04-22-2006, 07:22 AM My cousin opened a rehab next to Ellen's house or something like that and she also knows Ted Danson but that's all for me lol:wave: theres a rehab next to Ellen's house? They aren't like best friends, but they have talked since my Stepdad has been back from Iraq. Also, my Stepdad dated Bradley Knowell's (Sublime) sister a long time ago. I met Fall Out Boy outside of a venue a couple years ago before they were big, also I met David Cross on the street in New Orleans he was really nice. My mom's ex-boyfriend went to highschool with Mellissa Etheridge.
