Every entertainer goes through cycles in his or her career. After the breath-taking pinnacle of "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and "Mary Poppins" in the mid-60s, Dick went through some lean years in the 80s, so I'm sure it must be gratifying for him to be so busy at this stage of his life. Here are just some of his credits at age 80: he's got his name and likeness on a children's book out right now, he's making four special guest appearances this month on Broadway with Chita Rivera, his Hallmark Channel TV movie received strong ratings on cable. He's back on the movie screen with "Curious George" in February. And according to David Van Deusen's book, there are plans to release "The Dick Van Dyke Show Revisited" on DVD with a host of extra features.

You're right, hume.
I read an article on Dick in the 80's in which he says he first tried to retire to a ranch in Arizona. He couldn't to it. He's been working ever since.
I think Dick is so gifted, talented, and young at heart, that it makes it hard for him to sit still. He's in his element when he's creating. Besides, how do you just stop doing something you love so much?
