dawsongirl 01-12-2006, 06:41 PM Zenith = CRAP We got a Zenith in 1995...started dying in 2002.
We had an old Admiral console TV for years and years. Well, from 79-95 at least, maybe before that.
We've had the Sony for almost 2 years, my Panasonic for...hmm...7ish.
Polniaczek033 01-12-2006, 07:17 PM we've had a tv for about 20 years. we keep it in the basement and we're almost hoping that it explodes or gets damaged down there so we have an excuse to buy a new one. it still works though. the color sometimes gets weird.

The one in my mom and dad's room is like 5-6 years old, the one in the living room is like 4-5 years old and the one in the computer/family room is about 15-20 years old, but it still works fine.
We used to have a HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE TV in the living room, and it was like 5-10 years old but in broke in like 2001.

Ha, that's funny. I've been a Zenith gal for as long as I can remember. I don't currently own any Zenith electronics (besides an universal remote), but we've always had great luck with Zenith electronics.
It isn't 18 years old yet - but my dad still has the Zenith TV that my parents brought together (when they were still married) in 1989. It came with a detachable glass plate that I guess acted as a dustjacket for the TV. For some reason, the glass front broke about 7, 8ish years ago. It still works - it makes a really loud screeching sound when you turn it on, and it takes a while to warm up BUT IT STILL WORKS. I can still remember when my parents brought that TV together. We had a Sony console [floor] TV, and when they got the TV, the console TV got moved to the basement and we got an entertainment center so the new TV would have something to sit on.
Currently, I am a Magnavox gal- there are two Magnavox TV's at my place, the living room TV is 11 years old and the one in my bedroom is 8 years old. All the electronics I own still works as if they were new, and I have had some of them for almost 10 years now. I have a VERY nice General Electronics VCR that is 9 years old now. It's mah baby. :D
Brent88 01-13-2006, 01:49 AM My RCA 27" TV(with picture-in-picture ) is 5-6 years old. I cannot remember when exactly I got it but I know it was between the start of 2000 and 9/11.
James"Thunder"Early 01-13-2006, 02:46 AM We have a television set that is a Zeneth, we got it about 10 years ago, but I know it has alot of age on it then because it doesn't even have a remote control. It still works great.

Yeah I no longer have the remote for my 18 year old Sylvania TV
Seinatra 01-13-2006, 11:28 AM My parents still have a TV that I used to use when I was younger, my guess is it is from about 1980. It didnt come with a remote, it has the old dial tuning system, with separate dials for VHF and UHF. Just has the old antenna on it, but I was able to watch the Steelers/Bengals game on it and it came in good.
robyrob 01-13-2006, 12:36 PM my parents still have a VCR from like 1982 that they use daily.
it of course, is still flashing 12:00.
(oh and my mom's new dvd player she got for christmas 2 years ago has STILL never been used, she's still afraid of it)
TeeVeeCloset 01-13-2006, 05:13 PM I have a 25 year old 19 inch Hitachi that is in perfect shape, great color and sound...I got it when I was age 18, (I am now 43) it has been with me through 3 apartments.....I have a much more modern TV in the bedroom but the Hitachi is in the Living Room and I always say to friends "I won't give up on that TV, till it gives up on me"...It has never been to the repair shop!
gilligan fanatic 01-13-2006, 05:20 PM my TV's are not that old, but like robyrob parents, I have a VCR from 1982 as well. I wonder if it's the same model.

its a VHS Mitsubishi, one of the first front-loading models i had ever seen at the time, and the "remote" had a cable that plugged into the front of the VCR

sounds neat. I have a Panasonic Omnivision. It has the top loader. I don't think mine has a remote. If it does, I haven't the slightest clue where it is.
seventies_sitcoms 01-13-2006, 07:16 PM My Dad still keeps a Sears portable black and white television set in his garage that he uses when he works in there. There is this metal information tag on the back of the set and it says Date of Manufacture: September 1976. The TV used to be all white plastic when I was a little kid, but now it has turned yellow! It used to have one of those detachable screens/covers, but who knows what happened to it.
Dr. John Becker 01-13-2006, 08:33 PM I had an RCA TV from 1987 that worked great until 2001, but then the picture went green lol. THe repairman said they didn't make parts for TV's that old. I bought another RCA and so far so good.
Dr. John Becker 01-13-2006, 08:37 PM Well sylvania brand TV's must be the best-lol

When you first asked this no, but now yes. Got a 13 inch Sharp I occasionally use as a backup that was manufactured in 2001. Not hooked to cable or anything, runs with a converter box and indoor antenna.
TVFactFan 12-07-2024, 04:16 PM Update
That TV died in 2008. Since then I bought a new TV in 2008 that was replaced in 2021 because I was transferred to a new dept and was depressed so I decided to lift my spirits and buy a new Samsug Smart TV 43 inch in 2021 and that is my current TV

I remember in 2002 or 2003 I got into a argument with a woman I was dating and she said..............." you need to get rid of that Old a$$ TV" LOL
Looking back at it now she was right but I guess since I was using since the age of 13 it was hard to stop using it
