does anyone else feel anticlimatic when there are a lot of shows that are from the 60's, 70's and 80's that are currently nowhere to be seen and are not yet made available on DVD, and then channels like N@N, TV Land and the sort announces shows readily available to own on DVD? I like the announcements of Benson, 227 and Mad About You (and you know MAY will be resorted to a 4:30 am slot within 6 months, much like how shows like Roseanne, Full House and Fresh Prince get their asses kissed, and they are all doing well enough on DVD you know the whole series will come out) because while 227 and MAY are on DVD, Sony's pretty much made it known they're not planning to carry through with those two shows. At the same time, who needs What's Happening on TV Land when all three seasons are already on DVD. I know you can say "well, not everyone buys the DVD's", but IMO, since you can currently get all three seasons together for $40 or less (since season 1 is 13.72 at Wal-Mart and you can get B1G1 specials of seasons 2 and 3), I think pretty much every "true" What's Happening fan would just pick those up instead. Whereas there's at least 20 shows that lasted longer and currently deserve to be seen that TV Land and N@N isn't even smart enough to consider. Old sitcoms (except Lucy which is kinda high-end for a sitcom) are NOT Star Trek priced, so they're a good enough value that I think any true fan of the show would rather spend $20-30 for a season than watching edited episodes on TV Land.

I'd rather have it on DVD. No commercials, Pause, Rewing, and Fastforward.

You can watch them on TV and I'm much too busy to try to schedule around TV.

That does suck that shows like "facts of life " "Blossom" and "Wonder Years" aren't on any Network, or DVD....But remember why shows like Full House and Roseanne are on DVD is because they prove to be so popular in Syndication...I don't understand that at all though, because wouldn't it hurt the ratings once a show's on DVD?? Like ppl stop watching???

Good Times and What's Happening proved just the reverse... both shows are huge on TV Land, and TVL didn't acquire them until the entire WH run was out, and 5 of the 6 GT seasons were out. I feel that shows that are completed on DVD should be retired and let room for shows that you can't run over to Best Buy and purchase. Why won't TV Land acquire One Day At A Time or Alice (an impending "best of" does not count as a DVD release IMO) or something like that, which ran a long time, got great ratings and you can't run out and buy on DVD?

Great point wbout What's Happening and Good Times....But TVLAND and N@N also aquire shows that were very popular for it's time:
Murphy, WTB?, FH, Roseanne, Cosby, Fresh Prince, Facts Of Life, etc.

I know "One dat a time" did, but did "Alice" do well?
