This may have been asked before, but which replacement for Flo did you like the best? Belle Dupree played by Diane Ladd(1980-81) or Jolene Hunnicutt played by Celia Weston(1981-85). I didn't think either could EVER replace Polly Holliday as Flo, but which of the 2 do you prefer?

The question should be raised which of Flo's replacements was the least threat to Linda Lavin. My answer is Jolene. She was horrible and when she came on the show began to go downhill. Belle still kept the energy going but Linda was threatened by her and caused Diane Ladd to quit in the middle of the season. That was too bad.

Jolene easily. I couldn't stand Belle.

The more I keep hearing about Lavin, the more I dislike her.

As an actress I enjoyed her. Her behavior and the need to stress when Alice was on that she was the star of the show. I actually had a crush on Linda Lavin when she did Alice.

No it was Belle who tried to act like Flo, for that reason I kinda liked Jolene a little better b/c she did her own thing instead of trying to be another Flo.

Yes it was so obvious that's what she was trying to do.

They probably had Diane Ladd act like Flo because she was the original Flo after all from the movie version.

Jolene could not act! She almost seemed like at times she could've been Vera's sister.

I wasn't too crazy about either one but I give Belle a slight edge over Jolene.

Jolene, I never cared for Belle. I thought she was irritating.

I liked Jolene. Her character was different from Flo and Belle and she could throw some good zingers at Mel(to which he would respond "Bag It Blondie!").
The episode where she became a stewardess in S8 "Jolene Gets Her Wings"was pretty funny.
The thing I liked about the Jolene era,was that Vera became more mature and got more storylines(especially during the last few years when Linda Lavin started directing as well).

Jolene by default. I don't even remember the Belle episodes.

I think it was much harder for Dianne Ladd to try to win over the audience because she was probably seen by fans as a replacement for Flo and so they immediately turned off. She wasn't the funniest, but there were some good episodes with Belle. I thought it was funny when she sang her songs.

Celia Weston had an easier time adjusting into the role since Dianne Ladd was only there for awhile. I liked Jolene. I thought she was funny. However, her accent wasn't believable. It was kind of funny how she called Vera shoebutton.

I also agree that the more I've heard about how Linda Lavin was, the less I like her.
