A friend of mine made a point that many of the celebrities (Tom Cruise, Elfman, Travolta, etc) are not stupid people. They seem reasonably intelligent and educated. So why on earth do they submit their free will and life to this...brainwashing??

Aside from all that, don't you agree she's a pretty good actress? I've always found her characters very likeable and if an actor is able to convince you that they are a certain way, then I think they have succeeded and done their job well.
