Just a little question to ask to you guys, who is the Brady you dislike the most. It might be a strange question but I'm just asking.

Hmmm...good question! I guess they're all special in their own Brady way. Does Oliver count? (Sorry, that's just mean:p ) But seriously...when you really get down to it, I'd have to say Peter. I always found him to be kind of winy...and his "Wows" got on my nerves after a while.

Bobby. There was really nothing to him if you think about it.

Even Peter had that endearing geekiness about him in his teen years.

Yeah, as much as I like Susan Olson, especially after finding out how hard she tried to get Schwartz to let her character mature, I have to say it was Cindy who I liked least.

I mean, there was something almost creepy with how Schwartz kept her in pigtails until she was like, 13, and I noticed it even then.

Well.. Schwartz sounds like he was a bitch. I mean if Susan tried to persuade him to let her not wear pigtails then he should have let her not wear pigtails.. Gosh such arrogance on his part...

That's what I'M sayin'.

And knowing he sits there, rakin' in all the cash, because residuals for actors didn't exist yet, while the kids still have to work their asses off for a living, makes me CRAZY!

Let's see...it was his show, he was her boss...I think the arrogrance (or more likely frustration) was on Susan's part.

I can understand her desire to have the character grow up a bit and maybe Sherwood could have accomodated her, but when you're an actress who's under contract, you're paid to do what your employer tells you to.

These actors and actresses (adults) who hold up production or refuse to do scripts as written should be told they can either do the script as written or get in the unemployment line.

The fact of the matter is that anyone should be able to plainly see that a 13 year old girl---older, then, than Maureen was when SHE began playing "Marcia"---who no longer wants to wear her hair in girlish pigtails shouldn't be at the mercy of the whims of her creepy, old Hollywood boss.

She should've been able to take her hair down like the other girls when she wanted to and not the last 6 episodes of the entire series.

Hi Mykel, this is my first time posting in the Brady Bunch board (I'm normally on Gilligan's Island). I understand what you're saying, but I think the bigger point is Sherwood, as the executive producer, had the final say in what *his* show was to be like. An actor's job is to act. A lot of times in showbiz people have to do their hair or wear costumes that they don't particularly like. It's part of the job.

Also, there's few episodes of Gilligan's Island in the first season where Mary Ann had high, curly "Cindy" pigtails too, and she was in her late 20's!

Vegas Girl

My friend, who's more to the right like I'm more to the left calls me a moderate or a centrist. Funnily enough, we do agree on some issues. He's really a moderate too, just closer to the right.

I don't align myself with one party or movement because I don't always agree with everything they say. I take things on an issue-by-issue basis, like which Brady is the most annoying. You know, the important stuff!;)

Well, I suppose we could digress into a discussion about whether children should be allowed to work in the entertainment industry at ALL, but let's just stick with the assumption that Sherwood wasn't out of line with young Susan.

Given that logic, if I, as a gay man in my late 30's, were the creator of a hit sitcom featuring prepubescent and teenage boys and I wanted them all to wear skimpy little short shorts and tight tanktops as part of their "boyish characters," then that would be perfectly acceptable to you people?

Mykel

mykel, nobody cares that you are gay. You say it in every freakin post you do. Nobody cares. you are getting real annoying with this.

Susan may have been 13 but her character was not.

Uh, is this a conversation between Sherwood Schwartz and Robert Reed?

Or is it between gilligan fanatic and Mykel?

Let me make myself perfectly clear: I have the freedom to talk about whatever I want, whenever I want, without your prior approval.

You have the freedom to not read my posts. I, personally, have to wonder about people like you who claim that we gays are too "open" with our "lifestyle," while turning around and acting like you can't WAIT to see and hear what it is we gays have to do and say.

Given that the show's ending may have been hastened by Robert Reed's frustration of being a closeted gay man working on a show where the allegedly heterosexual producer, director and writers gave him no respect, I think homosexuality, homophobia and how closeted homosexuality can turn people into monsters are all perfectly acceptable topics for this forum.

Think of me as channelling Robert Reed's rage...

You guys need to do some serious recalculation! Susan Olsen was born Aug 14, 1961 so when the last episode of BB was aired, on Mar 8, 1974 She was still only 12! If you figure back a few months she would have been just barely 12 when the last show was flimed and still only 11 when they started filming the 5th season premiere. She didn't turn 13 until 5 months after the last episoe was shown!

Maureen Mccormick was born on August 5, 1956 so she was almost 13 when they made the pilot, several months older than Susan Olsen was when the show ended.

This is nothing against Susan Olsen the person, just Cindy Brady the character- she was annoying no matter what age she was. In the episode where she accuses Bobby of stealing her doll, she acts like a brat- even when Bobby tries to be nice to her. Then when she's older in that episode where she dresses up like Shirley Temple, even at 12 she looked ridiculous.
