Since there is no "Sanford" message board, I will ask this message board my following question - how could Aunt Esther have a son named Cliff on an episode of "Sanford"? Was the father ever mentioned? I thought that her only husband was Woody. If Woody is Cliff's father, then why the episode in which Esther and Woody adopt a child? I thought that they made a referance to being childless. Or is Cliff the child that they adopted on S&S (I forgot the kid's name)Help!

That's a very good question-lol That never even crossed my mind. She had an adopted so on Sanford and Son but his name wasn't Cliff it was Daniel-lol Cliff was kind of big to be only 3 years old-lol

Honestly, I would say that Esther and Woody probably had another son on "Sanford And Son" that was never mentioned or seen. This means Cliff was the other son.

That's false because no other son was ever mentioned on Sanford and Son

Was no other son mentioned or was it mentioned they had no children?

Maybe they adopted another child in the time between Sanford and Son and Sanford?

No, just a bad case of continuity.

Exactly - and it happens all the time in sitcoms. They *can* and *do* take a lot of liberties with characters and storylines. I don't understand why people get so uptight about it. After all, it's a friggin' TELEVISION SHOW. Deal with it.

It is fun to imagine our own backgrounds for the characters we enjoy so much. I wouldn't call it being uptight.

I found out the guy who played Cliff has a twin brother who played the uncle on the short-lived ABC series, "Thea" I thought they were the same person.

When watching "Sanford", I always assumed Cliff was supposed to be the same son that Esther and Woody adopted toward the end of the Sanford and Son series (around '76 or '77). I didn't realize until this thread that their names were different-lol. I guess I didn't pay close enough attention . . . NEITHER did the NEW writers on SANFORD-lol:eek:
