I fed my late cat only canned Fancy Feast. He loved it for almost 17 years, but a diet of only canned food is bad for an animal's teeth. I tried to change it with him early, but he refused to eat the dry, so I gave up.

I used to give him a little bit of whipped cream when we had dessert. He also loved the milk in my cereal bowl after I was finished.

With my new kitten, I feed her just one can of Fancy Feast a day, and a good portion of IAMS dry kitten formula.

Neither of my cats like treats made for cats. It's strange.

One time when my aunt was out of work (once out of like 6 times :rolleyes:), we were buying food for her cats. One day I got the responsibility, so I went to PetSmart and looked at the selection. Well, she has this frequent buyer card, so with that I got 2 cents off a bag of food instead of the can. So I bought it. It was like fancy stuff in gravy, etc. Anyway, the cats liked that so much they wouldn't eat the canned stuff anymore. :lol: I spoiled it.

I guess now one of them is into some dry food, so I guess that's good. Pickiest cats.

Anyway, my dog is still a puppy and we feed him dry food only.

I feed my animals Pro Plan for Seniors. My cat is 16 and my other dog is 7. Although Reagan got used to eating people food these last 2 months. My dog that just died, we fed her anything she would eat and Reagan always got the leftovers.

We feed our cat Science Diet Adult Light. She's fat, so that's why we feed her the light kind. We used to give her wet food too (friskies or fancy feast) but then we had to stop because that's not healthy for her to feed her both. Well, we started again a few months ago because my mom got her a can for a little "treat" and then we just kept buying more. Now we're stopping giving her wet food but it's hard for her because she LOVES it!

My doggy won't eat anything except Cesar food and the treats. She will occasionally want table scraps, but that isn't too often.

We feed our cats dry food now. We didn't used to cause 4 years ago, my one cat almost died cause he ate soo much dry food but hardly drank any water, it did something to his kidneys. He got all better and we fed him canned cat food for a while, but he likes the dry food better. We make sure he drinks water now or we will give him a can of food:D :wave:

lol, sounds just like my cat! She wants to eat all the time and always camps out by her food dish and waits until someone will put food in her dish. It's pathetic the way she cries for food all the time, it's almost like we never feed her!

Aside from Iams dry and canned food and assorted dog snacks, one of my dogs is crazy about cherry vanilla yogurt. He always knows when I'm having that particular flavor, and he sits on my feet until I finish with it and give him the carton.

My two chickens love blueberry pancakes. It used to be just for special occasions, but now they have them every day with their chicken feed. They also get chopped grapes. Spoiled chickens.

My mom and I took care of these dogs when her boss was on vacation, and one of them only ate hot dogs! He didn't eat dry food, his food every night was a hot dog. Isn't that crazy?

My dog eats Pedigree(the packets) for dinner. He doesnt eat breakfast, but he gets like 90 million treats a day so thats why.

My cat is fat as hell and eats all day. She always has dry food out, i forget the brand, she used to eat IAM's weight control but iams is bad for them(their skin/fur, and iams tests on animals) so now she eats something else. and she eats a packet of some smelly crap at night with the dog.

the various 4 birds/parrots i dont know what they eat, they can die for all they care since they make so much damn noise.

I stopped listening to PETA years ago when they decided that owning animals as pets is cruel and goes against nature, and that all domesticated animals should be returned to the wild where they belong. As if THAT wouldn't be cruel.

For my oldest and outdoor cat, Louise, I feed her Iams wet food. For my two indoor cats I give them Fancy Feast in the can. They love the ones with gravy. We also give the cats dry food. And we give them water, of course. Oscar likes Pounce and Aquariyums and always comes over when I open the cupboard hoping to get a treat. Lucy doesn't really care for those.

When we had Lady, we would give her Kibbles 'n' Bits. She loved that stuff. We would also give her dog treats. She was pretty intelligent in recognizing words. When we would say the word "cookie" her ears would perk up, thinking she would get a treat. (we used that word when asking her if she wanted a treat) It didn't matter what context it was used in, if she heard the word, she expected a treat.

Contaminated Food Has Killed at Least 76 Dogs Nationwide

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Jan. 9) - Caring for her ailing 9-year-old chow has taken over Shanika Stewart's life.

Cocoa must be force-fed with a syringe six times a day since suffering permanent liver damage after eating contaminated dog food.

"I haven't had any time to do anything but take care of her," said Stewart, a 19-year-old nursing student at the University of South Carolina. "She's the No. 1 priority. ... I get maybe four hours of sleep before she wakes me up."

Through relocations from Army bases in Georgia, Oklahoma, Washington and now South Carolina, Cocoa has been a constant companion for Stewart, whose father is serving in Iraq.

When her own daughter died last year, Stewart said Cocoa helped her through her grief. "It was like she understood," Stewart said. "She was my best friend."

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration reports that at least 76 dogs nationwide are believed to have died as a result of eating contaminated Diamond Pet Foods.

According to the company, the pet food was distributed to stores in Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont and Virginia and West Virginia.

Diamond officials say they are doing what they can to help affected pet owners.

"It's going to take some time to take care of all these customers, and we're going to do it," said the company's chief operating officer, Mark Brinkmann.

The company has recalled 19 varieties of dog and cat food because tests showed high levels of aflatoxin, a naturally occurring toxic chemical that comes from a fungus found on corn and other grains that causes severe liver damage in animals.

The company recalled products manufactured at its Gaston, S.C., plant from around September to November 2005. Based on sample testing, Diamond has narrowed down the exposure to food produced on Oct. 11, Brinkmann said Thursday.

The FDA and the South Carolina Department of Agriculture have launched investigations.

Stewart's other dog, a 2-year-old pit bull named Chulo, died last month just hours after being diagnosed with liver failure. It was only then that the family learned of the recall.

Stewart initially thought Cocoa had refused to eat because she was depressed about losing Chulo. After the recall, the family vet confirmed aflatoxin poisoning in Cocoa, Stewart said.

Steve Shrum, president of the South Carolina Association of Veterinarians, said vets around the state were confused when puppies began showing signs of liver problems usually seen in older dogs.

"It takes such a small amount, and there's pretty much nothing you can do with the process that will inactivate that toxin once it gets in the food supply," he said.

Diamond has promised to reimburse pet owners for vet bills and other costs associated with the aflatoxin poisoning, which officials now believe may include pets in Europe and other areas outside the country where the food is distributed.

The company set up a call center staffed with veterinarians. The call volume peaked at about 2,000 calls a day last week, Brinkmann said.
Stewart says she has not spoken with anyone at the company despite several calls. The family has filled out an online form explaining their situation.

"You don't get anybody to talk to and tell your story," she said. "It's like they're not concerned. To me, it's like they're saying, 'Oh well, we'll get to it when we get to it."'

Brinkmann was sympathetic.

"We're going as fast as we can," he said. "I grieve with her, and I'm going to do everything I can to make sure we can do right by her."

i have 3 wiener dogs, and we feed them.. some kind of dry food. don't know the brand. and sometimes we put some weird wet food that i keep mistaking for bbq on top.

I usually give my younger cat dry food because it's healthier for them, but last time I took my cat to the vet he told me that the wet food is good for their digestive system and it's not a good idea to just have him on dry food all the time. I forget the specifics the vet went into, but now I feed my cat both.
When it comes to wet food he gets Friskies salmon, chicken and beef flavours.
But, he gets more dry food than wet food in a day. I don't know how many times a three year old cat is supposed to eat in a day, but my cat has the appetite of a horse. He'll eat like five times a day. He's even learned to open the door where the cat food is kept and helps himself.

Used to always feed both wet and dry figuring it was best, but really, if you provide plenty of fresh water they don't require it and as Janice menitoned, it's better for their teeth and gums.

I've fed my guys various premium dry foods over the years but for the last few have given them Nutros Seniors. Only recently have I introduced a small tin split five ways once a week as a tree and also to give them their Dr. Maggie's omego oils which they love and its good for their skin and coats.
