Is there any chance that the 1966 series will be released on DVD?

From what I've heard the way things are going, not anytime soon.

Fox owns the rights to the show, which they produced back in the '60s, but Warner Bros. owns the rights to the Batman character, which is at the heart of this dispute.

I'm sure Fox would love to release the show on DVD, but they can't unless they come to some arrangement with Time Warner. I'm sure Warner Bros. doesn't like the fact that they themselves wouldn't be releasing it.

I don't know why Fox simply doesn't agree to license the character rights in exchange for Warner getting a percentage of the profits. This would sell a lot of copies, as there are a lot of Bat-Fans out there who'd buy this.

HOLY BOTTLENECK, BATMAN!!

WILL THE CAPED CRUSADER AND THE BOY WONDER ESCAPE THE CLUTCHES OF CORPORATE ENTANGLEMENT??

WILL THE FANS FINALLY GET TO SEE THE CLASSIC TV SHOW THEY'VE BEEN WANTING ON DVD FOR SO LONG...??

FOR THE ANSWERS TO THIS AND OTHER BURNING QUESTIONS, STAY TUNED TO THIS THREAD...

SAME BAT-TIME!!

SAME BAT-CHANNEL!!

If anybody is interested in the batman set on DVD, this is my set I created a few months ago.

I believe this to be the best Batman set out there as each episode averages 25 minutes (no commercials) so the series is UNCUT !! unlike the 24 disc set.
The set has 29 discs, with 29 different menu screens of different characters from the series. (see samples below)
I am looking to add some new series to my collection in exchange for this. I prefer series from the 60's and 70's so if you got something good and rare, let me know.

Where did you source the episodes from?? And how much are we talking for a set of this magnitude?? Just curious.

I don't need it as I transferred mine to tape from a set of 16mm film chain masters. The episodes uncut run about 25:15 each.

Maybe if the two sides could come to terms, we could see them with the Batman sequel. Cross your fingers, and your toes. I have the complete series I bought on ebay to hold me over until they put it on dvd officially.

If you like to try my set in the meantime (while you're awaiting for it to be released) You can try out a sample disc and see what you think.

Is this all 120 episodes? What source did you use? How much money altogether?

All 120 episodes, direct satellite captures.
Commercials edited and set re-authored with menu screens like you see in this thread.
29 different menu screens (1 for each disc) depicting all the different characters from the series
