I saw the episode when Thelma gets engaged to Larry. I liked him a better than Keith and they looked more compatible. Watching J.J. tells James, as a father puts the fear of God in his children with his temper and discipline, that he was wrong in the way he was dealing with Thelma's engagement. When James told J.J. he did not want to hear another word from him J.J. told James no. It took a lot of nerve for J.J. to stand up to James given that he was living under his roof. In real life there would have been some reprucussions to what J.J. did and his popping off at James. I believe that James did see J.J. in a different light after that for standing up to what he believed and to be there for Thelma in spite of their rivalry.

What was your take on this???

It was nice to see JJ stand up for his sister, but I was on James side on this issue. Thelma was way too young to be thinking about marriage.

J.J. did do the right thing by standing up to James. That's was an unusal J.J. moment. Thelma was too young to get engaged, but she loved him, he loved her, and he had a decent fhead on his shoulders. Personally, I think James and Florida was a little too old fashion in this situation.

I was actually impressed with JJ. That was great man. I wonder if Thelma would have done the same for him. Do any of you think Thelma would have stood up for JJ like that?
