Is Wings a spin-off. I heard it might have been a spin-off of Cheers. Is that true?

I don't think so. They have no characters in common.

I think I read years ago that some critic referred to Wings as Cheers set in an airport. That may be the source of the confusion.

Some of the characters from Cheers appeared on Wings (Frasier and Lillith, Norm and Cliff, Rebecca). I think they were produced/written/created by the same people.
